  1. I am happy I asked this question. The advice here seems consistent, yet I was completely prepared to go the other way with this situation. I would like to think that the advice here will be seen by someone else in this situation, because I will not be needing it as I had hoped. Thank you!
  2. Got my rejection e-mail last night. I am a U.S. applicant, so it seems it is not just international getting their notices anymore. Good luck to everyone who still has not heard, since last night you must be at least one step closer.
  3. Of all of the terrible terrible things us prospective grad students have to worry about, this is probably the least important. However, I am in a situation (as many may be) where my favorite school may not respond to me until after I have to make a decision for my second favorite (which I have been accepted to). UC Berkeley is only committed to notifying people by the end of April, while Georgia Tech and UW-Madison want my decision April 15th. I am going to accept one, but what happens if I hear from Berkeley afterward? Is it as simple as writing the other school back and saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Nevermind" ? This is just optimistic looking ahead, but I may be in a time crunch should this situation occur and I want to be well informed. Any advice?
  4. Berkeley is really bizarre because all other schools want a decision from us on April 15th. So (and I am being very optimistic here), in the scenario that someone is accepted to Berkeley AFTER they have said Yes to another school, what is the process to cancel their decision with the other school? I have searched for it but have not found much. I suppose if it is only a written intent and not a non-refundable deposit, then it is as simple as writing back and saying, "Never Mind", or "Psyche!". Any suggestions or ideas? I will post this in a new thread too.
  5. I am domestic and still waiting to hear. Just got word from Vanderbilt, so now Berkeley is the only school out of ten applications that has not responded. A friend tells me that this is a good sign, that I must be in some final rounds of decision making. Anyone agree with that logic? Also, does "not hearing" from a school this long mean that I am on an informal "waitinglist"?
  6. If you are wait-listed for Masters programs of Mechanical Engineering at either Colorado-Boulder, Colorado Mines, Colorado State, or Arizona State: I have just declined their acceptance offer, so you should be moving up. Best of luck to you and I hope you hear soon.
  7. I am waiting also. Berkeley and Vanderbilt are the only schools out of TEN who have not responded.
