  1. I wholeheartedly agree with you, Yellow#5... but tell us, please, how to stop worrying. I'll try anything (if not for my health, but for the sake of this conference coming up... just kidding )
  2. I've been having panic attacks for weeks now. I totally feel you. I've also put on weight... and I can't seem to do research, write papers, or teach. If I manage to do any of that---or have a happy moment---I'll catch myself feeling good and immediately switch back to anxiety-mode. I have a conference presentation coming up in two weeks. My research is done, but the paper isn't written, and I'm freaking out. Yet every damn time I attempt to write it, I start thinking about grad school, rejections, and my life spinning out of control. Then I have to check/refresh my email, check my phone to see if I've missed a call, and/or run to the mailbox. It's getting to be ridiculous (or far surpassed that mark long ago). I'm not sure if this makes me OCD with anxiety disorder or what. I hope this process ends quickly for the sake of our sanity and health.
  3. The results page lists three acceptances (two Film and Media Studies, one unknown) and one rejection. Does anyone know if UF is done notifying? I can't find anything on their site about the English department admissions process, though I've found it for other schools. I'm curious about the rejection, which is posted as "via email." Did you email and receive a reply, or was it sent to you without prompting? If it *was* sent without requesting your status, is this standard? (And what does it mean for those who don't receive notification? That the application was not reviewed because the applicant didn't meet cut-off requirements?) Moreover, are waitlist notifications standard before or after rejections and through which medium? I'm utterly confused and despairing :? :?: :? , and I apologize for my crazy post. I'm afraid to email/call the department to ask about my status since my professors keep telling me it's "still early in the game" and to give it a few more weeks. However, I did talk to someone who works for the admissions office, and he told me they don't update the "check your status!" page unless you've been admitted. That doesn't seem very helpful... Edit: Word is they're sending official notifications next week. I'm fine with that. (I guess, in the words of my peers, "JAY-KAY" to this whole post). Thanks everyone for attempting to alleviate stress.
