  1. The anxiety of waiting is gonna be the death of me. lol
  2. Yes, the same goes for our university. Graduate studies knew which applicants were successful several days before anyone else.
  3. If anyone is interested in the list of everyone who received an NSERC award last year, here it is: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_4j2_PIwz94UTM0cHNzVFBUc0MxOVcxX3hsbl9sUQ
  4. I'm from Ontario, and my NSERC status changed from 'Submitted' to 'Received' back on November 24th. I've attached a screencap below (and removed some of the sensitive information).
  5. Not true. Last year it also said 'Your application was received and entered into the competition.' Those who were not forwarded by their university had a message along the lines of 'Your complete application was not received.'
  6. No change here (as of January 25th, 2012). From what I've heard, each year there is only one woman working at the OGS program office. Seems like we'll be experiencing all sorts of announcement related delays this year. Don't expect to hear anything regarding success/failure until around May!
  7. @deadwriter We received an e-mail from our graduate studies dept that there were indeed errors posted on the website (many false successful applicants), and they advised everyone to recheck their status online. Fortunately, mine did not change.
  8. After the website update, I am now able to official confirm my OGS acceptance. For the past week, clicking on 'confirm' just brought me back to my status update. It appears that the downtime was to activate the acceptance page, probably in anticipation for releasing of the remaining results next week. Also, they provided a PDF with some updated information information. I have uploaded it online: http://viewer.zoho.com/docs/ccV4dd Good luck everyone!!
  9. For those who are still waiting, we received a campus-wide e-mail today from graduate studies. Here are some useful bits: "Students are strongly encouraged to check their online status for the results as this is the fastest way. Letters will also be sent to students but at a later date. For students who applied on paper & don't have a SIN, they can call the general inquiry line at 1-800-465-3957. What's new this year for successful students is that they will have an online Confirmation of Acceptance available to them when they log in. In addition to this, successful students will only have until June 30, 2011 to confirm their acceptance. If they do not confirm by June 30, 2011, they will be considered as forfeiting their award. Students placed on a reversion list (wait list) will be contacted before December 2, 2011, if they are selected for an award. They should not call Graduate Studies or the ministry for their rank as this will not be provided."
  10. Oops.
  11. @avsilver You can be an undergrad, masters or PhD student. The application you fill out depends on what your 'status' will be the following September. For example, you can be in your 4th year when you apply for OGS as an upcoming masters student. Or, you can be a master student in your second year and apply as an upcoming PhD student. Or, you can be a master student in your first year and apply as a continuing masters student. Hope this helps. @fricafrak Yes, I am also in Biology/Environmental Sciences.
  12. Either. It depends on what you originally applied for (i.e. the Masters or PhD OGS scholarship). There were slightly different requirements for each.
  13. I applied for the PhD. Checked on April 25th, and status reads "April 24." See image below. Thanks everyone, and good luck!!
  14. Just received an OGS!! Check your status!!
  15. Exactly what 'wantingthatsshrc' said. If you receive an OGS, you will mostly likely lose your TAship (your graduate fellowship) and/or part of you advisor's funding (your research fellowship). Either way you will still take in roughly the same amount of money.
  16. If you look at the bottom of that page, you will see that it was last modified in 2010. Thus, they are awarding the additional 1000 scholarships for this round (i.e. 2011-2012). Hurray!!
  17. They could be low on reviewers. Due to funding cuts, it could be taking them longer than usual to sort through all of the applications. Last year, it also took them longer than usual to release the results.
