Hey Guys, I just got accepted and will be moving from my current house which is 5 min from UMD to downtown DC. If anyone is coming to college part I would reccomend where I live now, it is quiet and really nice and the catch is our rent is only $360 a month. You can not beat that, the house is noce and furnished. PM me if you are really interested.

I am an international too and had to explain to the people at Georgia that I was still waiting on Assistantship offer. They are usually helpful because they want intl. students to come.

Hi guys, I think am done now. I just got a very good offer at one of my very safe safe schools. I am still waitlisted at Princeton, WashU and maybe Northwestern. Waiting to hear on funding from Georgia and NYU (I applied for external funding for the masters eish). But I am ok with Howard. The stipend offer is really GOOOD I will probably afford 3 meals a day and a nice 1 bedroom apartment in downtown DC. Since I just finished undergrad last semester I got into their fully funded masters program enroute to PhD. I think i will just have to work 5 times harder doing research, publishing etc. One thing I can say about Howard is that the faculty is great, really supportive. I spoke with them just yesterday and got the email this morning. They have a lot of travel grants and opportunity to study at GW, American etc while in the city where almost every important organization looking for minority (black) students comes to recruit. I will let you know how my experience goes. I am already working on a good internship in the city that I can continue with one of the best International NGO's so I feel safe and happy. This was a bumpy ride. If I hear anithing from the aforementioned schools I will let you know. Thanks for the support during these hair graying months.

I am but at this point am expecting the rejection anytime now. Did anyone get funding info from Georgia?

Ok, I am falling in love with this school before they tell me anything ha Has anyone heard back yet since last Friday? Are we in or are we out. I have already emailed once and do not have the courage to do so again. So what should we do wait? :? And I got a deceivingly thin letter from Howard letting me know they have just started reviweing my app. I like the school but it is almost end of March when we should be hearing back not get conformation letters. And I can only imagine the cost of postage yikes. I heard that Georgia will let us know about funding this week. If you are interested PM me then I will send you the email I got about that

That is very similar to an email I received a few weeks ago except with a mention of APRIL 15. I guess they DO NOT have an official waitlist. At least she is very nice about it. Let us just hope for the best.

Congrats you guys. I think Georgia we will hear at the end of this week. A proff there told me that she is making final offers for aid this week NORTHWESTERN-What art thou with this school. Has anyone been officially waitlisted or rejected yet? I am really starting to give up on the whole thing.

I officially give up. Remember I told you guys about that email but nothing yet. I also emailed a proff I spoke with before but nothing from him either. I am not sure what is taking them so long.............

Same thing for me and NYU and am not sure what I should do? I mean there are difinate advantages for NYU but do you guys think a fully funded Howard PhD would be better?

For the past few days I have been so sad and angry and sad but today I just realized that maybe it is time to start celebrating my Georgia Acceptance and possible Howard. I feel so much better the stress is gone, the knot etc. Now am just hoping we all get funded and are happy. I think the standards of every school will go higher after this tough election opps application cycle. I guess all of us who in to at least one school have to celebrate and stop stressing and those who haven't have faith. I am still hoping for NWU and NYU but if not ohh well. 30 years from now we will tell our kids about this (ps am only 23). We will be ok )

I know lol. He is a great guy and will likely be my adviser. So I have been emailing him a lot. He met with me for 2 hours last week then sent me 'homework"I was like aghhh no sir, but still read the article and right now am working on an analysis for him. Man!! On an entirely separate issue, my room mate has taken to singing classical musical during my time of pain what should I do??????

Hey I also heard from Georgia about 5 days after I submitted my app do you think they realized after accepting us so quickly that we where not the right ones and now are not sure how to politely ditch us? I love my pursuit of grad school life.

Reliable UPDATE. I called all schools this morning... could not take the stress any longer Brown: If you where accepted you got a call last week, if you are on waiting list or rejected you won't know till mid march. UNC Chapel Hill: They have only accepted 6 people so far (all six got mail a month ago), they have not rejected or wait listed anyone at this point as they wait on funding. Princeton: All those who are in where accepted (waitlisted) where notified last week by email and and mail, and rejections are in the mail as of last week, should be getting one soon. Northwestern- No need to call no one picks up or the lady is never there. Howard: My friend who is a proff there sent me this "The Department Political Science at Howard University has NOT DONE its admission for geraduate students yet. Is that clear? That statement you quoted is not true for Department of Political Science, may for another Department at Howard University. Keep cool okay." I had emailed saying I read somewhere that people where notified. Georgia State: They accept you and just go AWOL,no email nothing issshhh

Hi, Has anyone else heard from NWU, I seriously think they put us on an official wait list. I have been waiting for a rejection with no news. Seriously :oops: And I last heard from Georgia when they told me I heard been accepted and waiting funding but no news from any other proff. Got a rejection from UFlorida (congrats to those who got in) Any word from Brown?

Polsci Guy- that was one rough dream and it is so crazy that it is UNTRUE, we will hope till all rejections are in and accounted for how is that

I wish students could recommend their friends and say, "look I don't want to come but xy why really wants to come how about you take him/her instead what a cool world this would be. I am thinking Northwestern might have waitlisted me...what a nice thought.

Hey guys for all who are like me and waiting in Limbo. I spoke with my sister today she must be the luckiest person I know this world and when I told her about my dilema she said "there is a school for you out there, you just don't know it yet"I could hear her smile and I just felt all mosshy inside, it is nice to know others have faith in us even though reality says "we regret to inform you..... We can just HOPE right???

OMG those are my exact interests, and I am from Zimbabwe (am an intl student) so it is a big deal for me. I am really thinking Howard at this point (nothing official yet) because that proff that I talked to emailed me to ask me if there was anything missing on my app that he should know and I said NOOOO. Their program is very Africa focused with partners in African studies and Languages and practically the whole school. He also said they have very good fellowship offers. I am just praying at this point. I am in DC at the moment so we should meet when you come to look at the schools
