How bad do senior year final semester grades have to be for admission to be revoked from a grad school?

To white fluff: similar situation here. Since Jan (we had an informal meeting), the prof had been telling me that he hoped I would decide to go to Davis, etc. I feel extremely disappointed because I just got this email and was planning on going to Davis! Though it wasn't the prof's fault that he wasn't a new faculty member (he's really established, wrapping up the end of his career) ::sigh:: so sad :'( I am sorry to say that we will not be able to offer you admission into the graduate program. The area heads decided to admit only students (1) who could be supported next year on grants or (2) who would be working with beginning faculty members we just hired and whose careers are just beginning. This is complicated by the fact that continuing students need support and the Department was lax in enforcing a time limit for current students to graduate. All of this means that we have one of the smallest entering classes and have hardly any support to hand around. Your record of accomplishments was among the best we have seen, so the problem we experienced has to do with funding and financial support, not your record. I am sure you will get into top universities and I hope we can stay in touch. I regret very much how things turned out but they are beyond my control. Best wishes on your future.

I was told we'd hear back in a week, but nothing yet. The prof I'd work with has told me informally several times that he hopes I will go there, but I have yet to receive a formal invitation. Getting antsy about it

Yep, I know that Stanford conducted interviews because it shows up in the Results Search, and I personally know someone who interviewed there last month. I never questioned drpsych if you look at my posts. I was just hoping for a confirmed rejection from the Department so that I can rest in peace!

Yes, I know they've interviewed and sent out offers already. Just wish they would send out rejections so that the rest of us can move on with our lives/decisions.

For those who have not heard from Stanford, I called/emailed and got this response: Thank you for your message. We anticipate that applicants will receive admissions information within these next few weeks. (I applied in the Personality Area)

I've done it for a few profs/grad students.

I went to the Open House on Monday, and the profs said that we'd hear back in approximately a week. I haven't received in an email regarding checking the status online and my name is in the latter third of the alphabet.

Dear poofypoof, We are only rejecting you so that you won't reject us.

Hmmm I guess I didn't go to your Third choice after all I was talking about UCSD. How did you like it?

I went to your Third Choice too, but had somewhat of the opposite reaction. More reason for people to visit though! Different people have different experiences at different places.
