  1. For those wondering what payment dates, I had the first third of my CGS forwarded to my account this morning. I've never seen this much money in my account!
  2. A scanned copy will be ok. I brought my original copy in and the receptionist said "I'm assuming you don't want to send this one in, so I'll photocopy it for you so you can keep the original".
  3. Activation forms are in the Award Holder's Guide under forms, but to make your life easy: http://www.sshrc-crs...laires-eng.aspx Edit: Philosograd is a bit quicker on the take than I am.
  4. Thanks lemonpepper. I submitted my activation forms literally the day I got the letter in the mail (haha), which I believe was April 29th. I'll definitely give an update of when I start seeing the funds if that's valuable information for next year.
  5. Does anyone know when the funds typically end up in your account? I won the doctoral award with a May 1 start date. I know it'll likely be a while, but it would be nice to know when to expect it!
  6. For what it's worth, I just received an email from Laurier Grad Studies that OGS results are now online. While I still can't access them, that at least hints that they will be up and accessible by the end of the day. Hang in there, folks.
  7. I received confirmation half an hour after my acceptance, StrangeLight.
  8. Thank you travelbum, that's a big help!
  9. I found out from my Grad Studies Department on Tuesday, but officially received the letter in the mail yesterday that I received a CGS which was a very welcome surprise. In terms of my application: I am in the second year of my PhD (in a streamlined program MSc-PhD program so the first year of my PhD was my MSc) No conferences or publications at the time of my application Several internal/external scholarships - but no OGS or SSHRC and this was my first application to SSHRC. Average of 85 in my undergrad, A+ in my MSc Based on the weakness of the above, I had to make sure that my research program was persuasive enough and I'm pretty thankful that I was able to do so. Overall, I scored a 17.8/30. However, I do have one question that might seem somewhat ridiculous considering I feel like I should know this already... I have been having some discussions with people about whether the CGS is a general scholarship with no restrictions on the usage of the award or if the award is meant to be used strictly on research-related costs. Can anyone help clarify the matter? Thank you! And congrats to the other successful applicants (and a big sorry to those who were unsuccessful).
  10. I would take this with a grain of salt, but my adviser strongly advised me to not frame my proposal as a continuation of my masters research. She said that what happens is they read the proposal as if it is "a continuation of masters level research" rather than "PhD level research" which detracts from the weight of the research when applying for a PhD level award. I'm not saying that is the full reason, but it might have had somewhat of an impact. Maybe something to consider for next year!
  11. I'm also in Waterloo with an empty mailbox, but I'm actually not sure when the mailman comes. I'm hoping by the end of the day or by tomorrow!
  12. Stanvx, avsilver was only wondering whether you are a Masters of PhD student! But you answered it in your post, so you indirectly answered the question anyways! Edit: Oggy, so quick.
  13. My status hasn't changed either, if that makes you feel any better wantingthatsshrc.
  14. That is great news SSHRCDesperato, thanks for the information!
  15. No comments since yesterday! That can only mean one of two things: 1. Everyone has relaxed and settled down in anticipation. 2. Everyone is biting their nails in a fetal position under their mail box. Over the past two weeks I have gradually felt myself transition from #1, to now being dangerously close to #2.
