  1. If you are talking about NYU, (since I see in your sig that you are accepted there) you can go to the grad financial aid section of their website nyu.edu, and then login with your N id# and you will see your financial aid package. It is not listed yet for 09-10 but the site says it should be updated in April. I only found this by poking around the site some. (You can't get to it from the home.nyu.edu page, or at least I can't)
  2. I received notification of acceptance to Steinhardt by postal service yesterday, March 12th. It was a form letter from the graduate admissions office, dated March 6, with no other information about funding or department contacts. Mostly it says they want a deposit of $200 by April 15 to "hold a spot". I applied to the Environmental Conservation Education Masters program, which is a very small department that recently became part of the Dept. of Teaching and Learning. Earlier in the week I got e-mail from Steinhardt Grad. Admissions office notifying me that I was not chosen as a semi-finalist for the Reynolds Fellowship I'd applied for. That program said all along they would notify by e-mail on March 10, and they did. Good luck to all.
  3. thank you for your replies! Bottom line seems to be that it varies - depending on school and field of study. I am not holding my breath waiting for MA funding from a small department at a private U. But I can dream in the meantime.
  4. In reading the RESULTS page, and the forums, it seems like most of the generous funding packages are coming for the Ph.D students. Are schools much more likely to fund their Doctorate students, than their Masters students? What about a field where only an MA is offered? Do they allocate their resources for Ph. D students first, and then give Masters students any leftovers? I am just trying to figure out if there is any possibility of expecting some funding for MA work. Oh, I should add that my area of study is the humanities, and not sciences. Please excuse my naivete on this issue. I have just recently begun to consider the possibility of receiving funding for my studies. Thanks for any insight you can offer on this issue!
  5. I hate this thread. From the discussion here it seems like the GRE can HELP you get past the first round of scrutiny. And I stupidly did not submit my scores. I took a glance at them and thought "oh this won't help me", but now I think that they may have helped me (650v 550Q), since I am an older returning student and my undergrad GPA is not strong. My Qualitative score seems very low, but I am applying for an Ed. program. I have other things going for me though, like taking 2 classes non-matric and earning A's, and a writing sample from one of those classes that is very pertinent to my field - and which earned me an A and a "very well done!" from the prof. I even submitted a copy of the paper with the grade and comments on it. And a strong SOP, showing enthusiasm, experience, and a clear goal. Anyway, this thread has now given me something else to obsess about! and regret. So tell me that these scores are ho-hum, and I was right not to submit them. I really do not know anymore.
  6. I asked a colleague who was admitted to Steinhardt last spring about the schedule. He said he got his notice via postal mail after Spring Break - near the END of March. Not that they always do it the same way, but I think we may have a few weeks still to wait, although it probably varies from Dept. to Dept. I don' t think the delay automatically means rejection. (At least I hope not!!)
  7. Anyone else apply to NYU and the Catherine Reynolds Program in Social Entrepreneurship? I've been told it is extremely competitive since it is open to all new grad applicants University wide and a full ride for 2 years. The information states that all applicants will be notified via e-mail by March 10. 9 days and counting. anyone else out there to obsess with me?
  8. Still Waiting here too. Environmental Conservation Education at Steinhardt. Will keep you posted if I hear anything!
  9. Did anyone here also apply for the NYU Reynolds Fellowship? I talked to the Steinhardt grad admissions Director last week - I had received a letter stating they needed transcripts from the community college where I earned 30 undergrad credits 20 years ago - I was concerned this would eliminate me from being considered for the Reynolds Fellowship. She asked me if I could fax unofficial transcripts right away, which I did, and also requested official transcripts to be sent. She told me they had 100 applications for the Reynolds Fellowship and could choose 15 semi-finalists to move on to the next round. Have not heard anything else at all. They claim they will notify Reynolds Fellow finalists by e-mail March 10 at the latest. I wonder if that means all applicants too?
