I'm wondering where those who have been accepted will be studying next year. I will be in Mainz doing dissertation work for a Ph.D. in philosophy. Also, has anyone had luck finding an apartment yet? Nothing seems to be available for September or October just yet.
I agree, I get more anxious each day and unfortunately it looks like we won't hear before the end of March. Best of luck to you all with controlling your nerves over the week and weekend!
Clearly, I'm very anxious to hear back. Nonetheless, from facebook:
Dear DAAD,
Do you know when results for the Graduate Research Grant competition are expected to be announced? Please let me know and thanks in advance.
11:20am
DAAD North America
You will receive word next week.
Vielen Dank für deine Ermutigung! And I wouldn't stress too much if I were you either. Even though you spent some time in Germany already, you're not currently living there and are a US citizen (I'm assuming), so if you're eligible I don't see how they can deny you a scholarship just because you've spent lots of time in Germany. Maybe for other scholarships but the research grant even requires that your German be good etc so that might even be in your favour. Let's hope we hear back soon!
Has anyone contacted DAAD to see if results will be released earlier than end of March/beginning of April? Or does anyone know how many applied for a Graduate Research Grant vs. how many grants are available?
I was just notified by my grad coordinator that I got a CGS!
Entering my first year Ph.D. in Sep in Philosophy.
At the time of application I had:
2 publications in grad journals
3 conference presentations
MA SSHRC
SSHRC Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement (spend 4 months studying in Germany)
OGS in 2nd yr of masters
a few TA and RA ships
other substantial internal awards
solid A average in MA, A- average in undergrad
letter from current MA supervisor and a law/philosophy prof. (both are full professors)
no score yet, but super excited nonetheless!
