  1. Whoa, WHAT? Rumor control - who/what's your source?
  2. What did you read? And my next question is, will Helaine still be contacting us with information and documents regarding loans (Perkins, Stafford), since we've already filled out our FAFSAs and sent her our SARs? Or are we on our own for that?
  3. Ugh, whatever. What's the quote? “If you think education is expensive, try the cost of ignorance.” - Derek Bok Just keeping that in mind, lol. Hello research assistantships and TA positions! (hopefully)
  4. How did you switch? Contact the engineering office? This is pretty ridiculous. How many LEAP students could have possibly been matriculated for Fall?
  5. I don't think that's what it was referring to. I want to say that LEAP scholarship is being handled separately. Helaine is the one that asked for our SARs, something the letter suggests they did not consider...I don't think think we should be too worried, but, like the above posts, I don't think we should bug her about it just yet.
  6. Just got a financial aid letter...and I'm a bit surprised/confused..anyone else? And is LEAP scholarship different from "financial assistance"?
  7. Flowers. Lots of them. I'll organize it, lol.
  8. I feel a little bad, haha...it seems we've all been bombarding her with e-mails. I sure have. We should get her flowers!
  9. Let's hope so. I'm doing summer and signed a lease two days ago. Leases tend to begin at the beginning of the month, so if you're taking classes starting May 22nd, you'll want to jump on it.
  10. Nope, really hoped it would've been this week...
  11. Haha, they're all over the place...
  12. The official letters or the FinAid packages? The other day Helaine said FinAid packages should be out by the end of the month...right after she said mid-March, haha.
  13. Yeah, I got the official e-mail/letters on either the 6th or 7th of March. Just waiting on that aid package now...
  14. Yeah I took up to Calc 3 in undergrad and am going to re-visit 2 and 3 before starting. The only thing is that I'll understand the concepts, but in practice I may be a bit rusty. For example, I'll understand the use of the Lagrange Multiplier, but put an intermediate exam question in front of me and I may need help halfway through. In these cases, I wonder if I really should retake a course or just do some more practicing on my own...these skills do take time to develop.
  15. Last year, Helaine mentioned an acceptance of about 70%.
  16. Awesome! Definitely anxious about aid offers...will you be starting summer or fall?
  17. Ghanada - Thanks! I'll be starting summer. Any tips on where to live? My friend is taking a job in Boston as well, and we're looking for a place. CMC - I think most people will hear back within the next two weeks if you made the Feb. 15th deadline. And thanks! I hope you get good news soon.
  18. HK - I scored a 158 on both Quantitative and Verbal...it's all right, but obviously could have been better. That translates to about a 740 and 580 on the old scoring system. My writing score was terrible...3.5. Writing an essay within a half hour - not my forte. I can work on it, though. CMC - I submitted my application on November 11th. I only found out because I e-mailed last night...heh. At first I was told I'd find out by mid-February. Now it's March, so I decided to follow up, although I was hesitant. I haven't actually gotten an official letter yet, so if I hadn't asked, I'd still be waiting. To both - Just wondering, did you guys apply for Summer or Fall?
  19. Accepted =) Best of luck to everyone!!
  20. Wouldn't be awesome if we all heard back today? Y'know, LEAP news on Leap Day, amirite??? -__-
  21. Still waiting, very anxiously...and sorry to hear that ukosi . I hope they aren't going ridiculously unpredictable on us..you should definitely find out what you can do to better your chances if you choose to reapply. Don't let this get you down. The world needs people like you!
  22. Gahh, I thought as much. Well thanks for the info and best of luck to you as well!
