  1. If you do get in, then definitely Duke. It has what you're looking for plus the prestige. Good luck.
  2. Now I understand where your name comes from...and I thought my choice of nickname is unique!
  3. Thank you SOOO much for your reply. I've been refreshing this page every 30 minutes for 2 weeks praying for someone to evaluate my chances. I replied to your pm.
  4. Guys please help I'd really appreciate your opinions. Although I know I could use extra courses in math/statistics the problem is I can't take any as a non-degree student because I just don't have the money (my undergrad was funded by a scholarship) Forget 2nd tier, is it possible to get into 3rd tier or just any tier for that matter?
  5. I know the pain of going to the wrong major and trying to correct the mistake. I also know the pain of having to wait days & days for someone to post their opinion about your chances (As you can clearly see from my 0 replies thread that I keep checking on). That's why I will try to answer you as best as I can Getting into masters is easier than Phd's, since you're paying for the education. You can probably get into one of the average schools after completing a good number of courses. However, you want to apply after taking only those 3 courses in the fall?? Furthermore you have listed schools like Berkeley, Toronto, Mcgil etc. These schools are very selective. I'm sorry but there's just no way any of these will accept you in your current condition. I'm just letting you know so you don't waste money on application fees. If you really want a realistic chance, take at least one extra year filled with relevant courses and apply to a whole bunch of safety schools. I really hope someone more knowledgeable than me can come here and help you.
  6. Hello everyone, Please help evaluate my chances for second tier Phd's in statistics. I know I don't have any chance for 1st tier. I have a BBA in Finance from the American University in Dubai GPA: 3.99 GRE: 800 Q | 370 V | 4.0 AW Toefl: 116/120 I have taken the following relevant courses: Math (6 courses): - Calculus I - Calculus II - Multivariable Calculus - Linear Algebra & Complex variables - Probability & Statistics in Engineering - Differential Equations Other Relevant courses: - Applied Econometrics - Introduction to Business Statistics - Fundamentals of programming (This was all C++) I was not able to take more advanced courses (eg. real analysis) because my university just does not offer a math degree. I'm thinking 2nd tier is top 20-50, so do you think I have a shot there? The letters of recommendation are ground-breaking, and my one & only A- was English101, so could they see potential and admit based on that or it's just not gonna work? Thanks in advance for helping.
