I just received my letter saying that I got PGS D! I am just wondering if I can take this on top of my stipend? On NSERC webpage, under the other source of income, it says "You may not concurrently hold another award from NSERC or from another Canadian federal granting agency (CIHR or SSHRC). You may, however, accept awards from other sources, regardless of value (e.g., foreign sources, provincial awards, private organizations or your university)." I go to school in US, does this mean I can take this NSERC ontop of my stipend? Btw, my stipend is more than the NSERC funding per year..

the school that I am/was going to attend has been saying the decisions regarding financial support is pending. but they just notified me that I didn't get any support, (tuition, stipend etc) So what are my options? Should I contact the profs and tell them I am interested in working with them and ask for RA ship? what is the best way of asking this in email? If they give me RA ship, would they pay my tuition and give me some stipend? or am I in dream land.. I can't go thru phD without any funding...

I still haven't received any results from UPenn or Georgia Tech... I will have to accept my offer at UCSD!!

Hey guys I have been accepted from one school but still haven't heard back from 3 others. The one school i got accepted from said the funding info is still pending. Should I ask them when I would get the funding info? also, do you think i can get an extention on making decision? Because they wanted me to make the decision by 15th. But I feel like I might be waitlisted :S:S Thanks for all the input!

Hi I am applying to Georgia Institute of Technology as an international student (Canadian) It says for International Student "Unofficial documentation of financial support (letter from sponsor, bank statements, etc., showing availability of one year's tuition and fees) - must be provided at time of application. Most departments will not consider international applications until this documentation has been provided. If you have no funds available, you should enter zero in the boxes and should have indicated on Part 1 of the application that you require financial aid." Does this mean without availability of one year's tution and fee from my own money i wont be able to get in? Like do they not pay me for the first year? if that's the case I do not want to go. This school is like a second tier school for my field and it is my safe bet school :S I am wondering if anyone else applied/applying to this school with international citizenship? What are your thoughts?

Hi, for harvard application, it says "If you consider anything about your academic record or career pattern to be unusual, please explain. Account for time (three months or more involving military service, travel, family responsibilities, etc.) not covered in preceding questions." Should I put anything on this section? My mark was excellent in 1A, 1B,2A but drops significantly in 2B (over 10%) and goes back up in 3A, 3B, (i am in 4A now) Should I explain why this happened? this is actually solely due to lack of interest in school in 2B, i was a mess, didnt go to any classes, didn't manage my life at all, just total trash, i guess i was mentally having difficult time... my grandma passed away and stuff i dono if its worth it for me to explain this sudden drop of my grades, and if so how should i approach and say it so that it doesn't sound bad? Also it says "Please describe any project(s) that required independent work on your part and/or laboratories in which you have conducted independent research." does my 4th year design project (thats honors work i guess,, with 3 other classmates) that I prepare for a whole year work? thanks guys!
