  1. How on earth has Duke failed to send out all of the rejections yet? Still waiting....
  2. Well, I haven't received mine yet, but I'm sure it is on the way.
  3. Has anyone else heard nothing from Duke's Musicology program? At this point, I'm just interested to see how long it is going to take them.
  4. Same here, I've heard nothing from Duke... Although I know there were rumors circulating about UCLA flying out their prospectives, I kinda had a visit with the department head and a faculty member last spring... so I guess I can hope?
  5. Does anyone here know ANYTHING about USC's Musicology admits? I haven't seen anything on the Results Survey, so I'm really in the dark!
  6. Has anyone else applied to Berkeley for Musicology besides Karajan? Someone let me know if there is any hope left!
  7. Honestly, the Princeton rejection isn't stinging as badly as I thought it would. The University of Miami was incredibly enthusiastic about my work, and I while I haven't been accepted anywhere else, I haven't been rejected either Stay positive everyone!
  8. Has anyone else here applied to Princeton for Musicology?
  9. I feel for you Catalyst... it has been dead silent on my end as well with graduate programs and every day that I don't hear something, I get the feeling that I'm going to go 1Y/6N. Almost every school I've applied to has sent out acceptances, so this isn't looking very promising...
  10. I'm getting a little nervous after seeing the results survey and not having heard anything yet except from the University of Miami! I will say that having one in the bag (with an unofficial notice of an assistantship) makes this a little more bearable.
  11. Now it is just time to wait on the other six and see what happens
  12. <--- University of Miami M.M. program!
  13. I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious...
  14. It can definitely happen. I've had some issues downloading a PDF, opening it when it was created on a Mac, and then opening it on a PC. It was a score and some pages were simply left off, weird margins, missing staves, etc... it sounds just like what you guys are talking about.
  15. I think it might be an issue that can arise when you try to open up PDFs between Macs and PCs. It has happened to me a few times when I try to download PDFs from classes when the professor used PC. As long as it is correct on the application proof, I think they will realize the issue.
  16. Yep, the twitter account definitely belonged to the composer I expected! Haha!
  17. A faculty member told me once to try and remember that, in a way, this application process is competitive for the graduate schools as well as us. I was told to try and think of this issue in the best way possible: if you look particularly attractive to a program, and they see where you are applying (one or two schools didn't even ask me), it could actually play to your advantage. These schools want to snatch up the best scholars they can!
  18. What schools are you guys interviewing for?
  19. Yeah, I definitely understand. I took a class in the music department during the summer of 2010 and really enjoyed my time in the Bay Area. On top of that, Richard Taruskin is one of my idols and I would love to work with him!
  20. I'm glad to see that someone else is applying to UC Berkeley!
  21. I had an interview over the Thanksgiving break at the University of Miami and I would agree with snes that typical interview attire (a nice tie, dress shirt, and pants) would be the best option.
  22. I'm so glad I got everything turned in during November, but Duke keeps sending me application status updates that just show I have everything turned in... I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the first one! I'm guessing February is when admissions decisions should start rolling in?
  23. I think that graduate programs know students apply to multiple places; to not do so looks pretty silly in my opinion. One of my professors told me to remember that graduate applications are also a competitive process for the institutions. They are competing to grab up the best scholars and if they know where else you have a applied, that could definitely work to your advantage.
  24. I just submitted my last application for musicology today! All that I have left to do is submit one last transcript request form tomorrow morning and then it is all out of my hands. Random question by the way: how common is it for schools to interview you for an assistantship before an admissions decision has been made?
