Be thankful for you have a job. In other countries, graduated nurses are now I.T. Specialist because they don't have any other options but to accept that kind of a job even if it is out of their bound. Being jobless is frustrating.

Yikes. I would come right out and ask your advisor: "What is the gameplan here? Can we talk about a plan of action that ends with me making some definitive progress towards obtaining my degree?"
