  1. Hello everyone! I am applying to Comparative Literature Master programs and have a question about my writing sample. Does it have to be in English? I am currently translating a paper originally written in Spanish, I don't know if it would be better leave it in Spanish (since in Comparative Literature you are supposed to know several languages). Should I translate the quotes myself too?How do I indicate this formally? Thanks for the help!!
  2. Oh the GRE!! Actually, I found out that I was selected for a scholarship less than a month ago, so I haven't studied AT ALL for the GRE. I'm taking it on October 22nd and getting enrolled was a nightmare (I was paying for it with a voucher my scholarship gave me so I couldn't do it online). I wrote to Comp. Lit to see if they would allow me to take more creative classes but I am waiting for an answer to check. I was also taking a look at Columbia's writing MFA, take a look at the journal, it looks really cool!! http://arts.columbia.edu/ Another option on my mind is WUSTLs Comparative Literature Department. These are very expensive schools though, so I have to wait and see what my sponsor thinks hehe. What other schools do you like?

    Art vs.academia

I am still looking for more options of very interdisciplinary Comparative Literature programs that will allow me to take writing classes. Any ideas??
  4. Do you anything about USC's Comparative Literature Department? It also looks extremely interesting (for some reason, I love every program from this school! hehe). I called and apparently many of the their students are also writers.I am going to write and find out if it is possible to enroll in this program and take writing classes. I do know that they let you take classes from the Cinematic Arts Department.
  5. I am on the same situation. I am looking for a Comparative Literature program that will allow me to take plenty of Film School classes (such as Screenwriting). Any ideas???? I appreciate the help!
  6. Well, I am very interested in screenwriting : ) Do you know if it is too hard to get in?? I am a little worried about that.
  7. I recommend that you research Masters in Comparative Literature, that is a very broad discipline.
  8. Thanks!!! Any recommended 2 year programs? My main languages are Spanish and English. I am also interested in a program that includes Film Studies and it would be great to find a school or program where could work a little on the creative dimension (specifically writing).
  9. I am from Costa Rica. I am Fulbright Scholarship candidate. I am completely lost abot what schools to apply. My maine languages are Spanish and English. I would also love somethings that includes Film Studies. I am also a little confused lately, because I've also seen some great Writing Masters. Which schools do you recommend?
  10. Hey!! I was trying to pay for my GRE exam with a voucher number I got from my scholarship program. I was told I had to choose the credit card option and write my voucher number (instead of a credit card number), but it didn't work because I didn't choose any type of credit card. Does anyone know how this works??

Thank you!! I didn't know they were different. The one at USC is called Masters in Professional Writing. I think that one is mostly fiction but also some technical writing. I am taking a look at Poets & Writers seems very interesting!! I will do some research on University of Cincinnati.
  12. Hello!! Does anyone know which are the best masters in comparative literature? I have been looking for programs, but many of them require that you go on with a phd and don't have a terminal master. Does anyone know about good two year master programs??????

Hey!! I recently applied for a scholarship to get a Masters in Comparative Literature in the US. Now, I am also looking at Creative Writing programs (specially, the Masters in Professional Writing at USC) and I am really liking them. Does anyone know a program that combines literature academic classes with creative writing classes? Or a university that will allow me to take classes from both programs? I really appreciate the help!!
  15. Hey! I loooved that program too, I was actually planning on applying to a Comparative Literature masters, but I found this one and it seems more interesting. I would appreciate if you can share any additional info about the program.
