  1. Hi all, hope you more experienced people can help me out a little bit with this question: I took the old GRE in July and got some good scores, only my AW was really lacking (CR 740, Q 760, AW 3.5). I felt like this really wasn't representative of my writing ability (because really, 26th percentile?) and so I took the new test this last week. Here's the question: I actually canceled the scores because my second Q section was absurdly easy, and I feared that a higher AW (probably 4.5) combined with a lower Q (650-700) might look a lot worse than my previous scores. I'm deciding whether to uncancel it -- what do you guys think? Really appreciate the help! Frank
  2. That depends - are you scoring low because you are missing questions, or running out of time, or missing an early question and getting low-tracked? If you are missing questions, then I would DL ETS's math review packet and make sure you can do all the problem types: www.ets.org/Media/Tests/GRE/pdf/GREmathPractice.pdf If you're running out of time, then I would practice math questions in an untimed setting, to get faster at doing them without the pressure. Pay attention to any differences in how long you spend on certain question types, or how often you second-guess yourself. Hope that helps! (I got a 740 my first time doing basically the same thing!)
  3. Hi everyone, new to the forum and I thought I'd share some tools I've found that are pretty good. I don't have any affiliation with these guys, I just think they're super useful and people should know! Vocab learning tool based on memory research: www.membean.com - is pay-based, but they have a trial and it's been worth my money. If you have an iPhone (and maybe for Android also), there is a similar app for learning GRE vocab: IntelliVocab. It's developed by some grads at MIT, and it's free too! Hope you find this useful! Frank
