  1. Just curious the extent of the math section on the new test. I know there is a calculator. Is it able to calculate standard deviation and other time consuming calculations? Or are we not required to do that? If anybody that has taken the test could please fill me in on the extent of statistics on the test that would be great! Any other pertinent advice about the test in general would be awesome as well!!
  2. SLP-Allie- I'm applying to UNC. I looove Colorado and would love to go to school out there. I'm from Pa but have friends in CO.
  3. Besides "how well you are able to perform in graduate school," what are grad schools looking for in a LOR? I guess my question is when professors have so many students to write letters for, even when giving them all your information and selling points, I'm afraid all letters will sound stock and unpersonalized. Just FYI I graduated undergrad in 2006 and am about to complete a year and a half prerequisite classes for grad school. So I haven't had a big opportunity to get to know these professors personally. I am planning on asking them soon but the above is a concern I have. Anybody familiar with this?
  4. Thank you. I will check out that thread. It seems my problem is when I do practice problems in books, I have an issue applying what I learned to new problems. If that makes sense. I am taking them Dec. 8. As you know, SLP programs are super competitive, so every aspect of my application matters. The whole process is just so overwhelming!!
  5. I took the old GRE and am not happy with my scores. I am studying to take the new one. I do not know what my problem is when it comes to tests like this. I think it is a combination of becoming more familiar with the material and calming my nerves during the actual test. Please if anyone has ANY advice/tips pertaining to any aspect of the test it would be greatly appreciated!! I am so nervous about not doing well and this is my last chance.
  6. Thank you for the responses. I am looking at applying to 8 schools. 4 in my local area of Pa, 3 in NY and 1 in Colorado. I definitely understand how applying to many schools could potentially be viewed in a negative way. I am just very nervous about the competitiveness of my program. Thank you for the ideas about the LOR. I wanted to make it simple for the professors considering the amount of letters they will be asked to write. This whole process is very overwhelming!! Trying to accommodate all the different requirements of each school! I am applying to schools for a masters in Speech/Language Pathology. Any other pertinent advice would be greatly appreciated!
  7. I want to apply to as many schools as possible because my program is becoming increasingly competitive. Is it ok to ask professors to send letters to a bunch of schools? Or do they typically limit the number of schools they will send letters to? Sooo frustrating!!
