  1. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it all the advice!
  2. Thanks so much for your response! I'm sure it depends on the school, but do admissions have certian reasons that they deem suitable for deferral and reasons that they would say no to? And if they say no, does that look bad if I go ahead and start this fall?
  3. Haha..I was thinking the same thing...I already know where you guys are from!
  4. Does anyone know anything about deferring acceptances? I have heard of it before and googled it but all the topics pertain to Ivy League schools fro PH.D's. I don't want to call my school because I don't want them to know because I am only interested in knowing more about it...not even sure I need to do it, if that makes sense. So if anyone knows anything about it or anyway of going about finding out if my school offers it, that would be great. Thanks!!
  5. I received my housing app in the mail and am trying to get it in asap. If anyone is looking for a roommate at NYMC let me know! There is a spot to put names down for potential roommates. I'm from PA so definitely need to live on campus..
  6. I sent in my deposit to NYMC but just got accepted to Mercy College. I am worried about how much debt I will be in after NYMC. It will be a lot less with Mercy :-( I looove NYMC though!
  7. Does anyone have a certain way they are "rating" their options? I have so many different things I look for in a program and area, I'm having a hard time pin pointing what is most important. I would love to attend TC at Columbia and get a great experience living in the city but don't want to be in debt the rest of my life! Other schools may be a little cheaper, not by much (all of my schools are out of state) but the living experience would not be as exciting. And I love different things about each program. So if anyone has advice on how they are making their decisions...Please share!
  8. If anybody has been accepted to extremely expensive schools do you have any advice??!! I'm freaking out wondering how in the world I will pay for TC @ Columbia! Didn't even think about finances when applying, but now that I got accepted...I need to think about it! I filled out my FAFSA but won't hear from Columbia until the end of the month as to what they will give me. I filled out the scholarship application, but I'm sure everyone has as well. Depending on what aid I get I guess I will have to take out private loans to cover the difference?? I have some money saved, but I will DEFINITELY need to use that for living expenses in NY. I do not care about the amount I will have to pay back after graduation, I just need to find ways to cover the amount up front. My undergrad institution was so inexpensive, I never really had to think about this. Does anyone have any advice or information about this kind of situation? Anything I can look into to help me? I am soooo afraid that I would have to decline my acceptance because I flat out couldn't afford it up front :-(
  9. I know there is nothing to do about it now, but I feel like I just did terrible on my group interview. First of all, I get soooo nervous and red and blotchy. It's been happening my entire life! I've already been accepted to a program, so I'm not so much worried about not pursuing my degree, just looking for some moral support and advice on the subject. I have another interview next week and would like to leave feeling a little better! Does anybody have those physical things happen to them as well? If so, how do you deal? Any other advice would be great. Like I said I've been accepted to TC at Columbia so I feel good...but I still get ridiculously and noticeable nervous! Please Help!!
  10. just left my interview. Super nice faculty and grad students. Overall not bad. I am terrible at interviewing. I get all nervous and red... Not a good look. If I don't get in I have to attribute it to my terrible interviewing skills because they obviously liked me enough to give me an interview. Oh well.
  11. I apologize for all those typos!!! I am typing from my iPhone!!
  12. I'm sitting outside Starbucks near Mercy right now! I got accepted last night to TC at Colimbia so That takes a little pressure off of this interview. I have no idea what to expect! I heard they do group interviews?? I apples for regular admission..I think I sent my app in around Feb 1st. I will let you know how it goes and if you get an interview you will know what to expect! And damn you Montclair! They need to get on the ball!
  13. I have an interview with Mercy in two hours. I was notified two Sundays ago. I got something in the mail from Montclair saying that my file is under review and I may be contacted with a decision. Really? You MAY tell me yes or no?! Jerks! I k ow someone who got a rejection letter from Montclair without receiving the letter I did. Not Sure what to think of it. I think we have all come to the conclusion there is no method to these schools' madness! Keep your hopes up!
