    Hey Peter,

I am also an applicant for MPP/MPA program. There are two questions I am having -

    1. I know that there are schools which accept GMAT/GRE or LSAT for admissions to their program. So, I wanted to know which are those schools which accept GMAT and TOEFL for the admission process ?

    2. I have a background in operations management, product development and project management. With a cumulative experience of 6 years I am looking forward for a major career transition towards foreign policy services.Hence, I wanted to know what are the differences between MPA and MPP.More so,which program is more suitable for foreign policy services, considering I am based in Asia,country- India.

    Thank you beforehand.

    Warm Regards

    Hey Clay,

I am an international candidate for MPP program, just like you. I am also in the process of short listing schools with respect to my TOEFL and GMAT scores.
I have mailed to Munk school regarding their internship and placement statistics. However, I haven't yet got any reply from them.

Are you aware of other Canadian schools which offer great global mobility and provide good opportunities to work for international organizations such as IMF or UN.
Please let me know your opinion.

    Warm Regards

I am a current GSPP student and I honestly can't say specifically why you were not accepted in your first round of applications. GSPP is being bombarded with applications with the rough US economic situation, so the admissions process has become more competitive recently.

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm not trying to curtail you from applying, but GSPP has a very U.S. focused curriculum, and I think that's part of the reason why we don't have very many international students, including ones from China. Our quantitative curriculum could definitely be applied in any situation, but the rest of the core courses have a very strong domestic focus, and if you want to get any kind of international content courses, you would have to do so in other departments. Keep that in mind when/if you choose to re-apply.

Also I should add that SIPA does offer beginner courses. The far majority of people here though at least have a beginner level of something. For example the beginner Spanish classes were filled almost immediately. The language program here is part of the greater Columbia program.
