I'm in at UCSD!

I finally got ahold of someone at the UCSD graduate admissions office. They informed me that my application was "Under Review" and couldn't tell me anything else. Argh!

Without tipping my hand too much, I can virtually guarantee you that the UMD acceptance is genuine.

From conversations, it seems like the admissions process at UCLA is quite decentralized. I'm not sure that people that applied as IR have anything to do with those that applied as comparative/American.

You can make a Google Doc with a throwaway account, make it private, and then ask people to PM you with their email addresses to be added. That'll keep the trolls at bay.

For heaven's sake, UCSD. I know the perfect weather and surfer culture slows everything down, but c'mon.

For those rejected from Chicago, take comfort in knowing that you will not need to live through a Chicago winter. For those accepted to Chicago, feel excited that you might get to jog next to Oprah on Lake Michigan.

UCLA is me. I got an email from a POI indicating that I had been admitted.

Possibly, but the pattern there is the inverse of what has occurred so far this year. They've sent out quite a number of rejections and so far no admits — or at least none that have popped up here.

I am still in UCSD limbo (i.e. nervous waiting). I wonder what is happening there. I have half a mind to call the department.

Let's hope they manage to keep the power on!

Woah! That is really dramatic. As of yet, I haven't been rejected so my working pet theory was that they hadn't gotten to IR applicants yet.
