Congrats everyone who's been promoted from Alternate to Accepted! Any news from anyone regarding alternates for Spain ETAs? They said best chance of hearing back would be May and June and then significantly diminish following June, right?!

Does anyone know if alternates are promoted beginning as soon as someone declines their offer, or does the whole process wait at least 1 month to allow for those 4 weeks of people either rejecting or accepting the offers?

Anyone have any thoughts about the likely of Spain ETA alternates being promoted to principal? Or are there any current/former ETAs in Spain lurking on this board?

Alternate, Spain ETA. Notified by Rachel via e-mail at 5:10pm EST. Anybody know the chances for being promoted from an alternate to principal?

That's correct. NO ONE to my knowledge has heard back yet but I'm crossing my fingers that we hear back THIS week from Spain!

GOT IT. Thanks for the explanation! Makes a TON of sense. I know for example that the Spanish embassy has an English teaching program for native speakers of English as well - so it's similar to Fulbright, less of a stipend and without the prestige of a Fulbright but STILL a great opportunity if you're looking to live and teach abroad...

Maybe I'm a little late on this (and I apologize if it's already been discussed on the forum), but can anybody else explain how you are able to apply for BOTH Germany & Austria? Thought we were only allowed to select ONE country - or are these entirely different programs both run through Fulbright? Also... for the other Spain ETAs waiting, have you heard anything else? Or should we brace ourselves for another 1 to 2 weeks? I'm not anticipating we'd hear anything back this week anyway due to Semana Santa...

Still waiting to hear from Spain as well (ETA)... Would love if someone were to call to inquire more about the timeline we should expect!
