Oh, and I should add that I called the admissions office today at ND: they have NOT finished making their waitlist. I'm not even sure they've made all their admssions offers; the survey this year certainly indicates that they have not.

I don't think this means you guys are necessarily out. Hang tight. ND has sporadic notifications, if you look at their history in the results survey.

I don't have an MA! Veilside, I'm sorry you're having a rough waiting period. I understand, I really do! My husband got all rejections last year for his field, except for an unfunded state school. We didn't accept that offer-- he reapplied, and I decided to apply, too. Everyone is having their struggles in this process, Even though we're not in your exact situation, you can take comfort in knowing that we all have challenges of a sort, and that everyone here supports you.

Thank you all for this information -- it is helpful to me, and I hope that it will be helpful to others as well. Regarding funding for MAs -- I saw that Columbia does NOT offer funding for its terminal MA programs in PoliSci, and I assumed the others also have limited funds. Do you know, by chance, what the tuition for these program are? And if tuition waivers are ever awarded?

Hey all! What are the best terminal MA programs? Are any of them funded? And does completing one increase your chances of being accepted to a PhD program?

lol. I think we should lobby -- schools shouldn't be allowed to send out rejections today.

Do you think schools may not be notifying today because of valentine's day? It's always horrible to get a rejection, but it would be especially annoying today.

One more thing -- sorry for so many posts, omnes. Does anyone know the difference between a visit and an interview, or if there is one?

Beezlebub is right -- I looked at the Columbia website. They even have different DGSs -- Gareth Williams for Classics, and Katja Vogt is the chair for Classical Studies. I wasn't aware of the distinction before! And congrats on your acceptance, Beezlebub.

I've been invited to "visit" Columbia (I assume this is an interview??), but my program is Classics, not Classical Studies. I am curious about the difference.
