  1. Hey guys, anyone has news for UVa? It is ridiculously long time to wait from them.
  2. 5 rejections in a day. NU, UPenn, Yale, Cornell, Penn State (mail). it couldnt be worse than this
  3. Not cool at all. We pay for the application fee. At least they should have sent us an email.
  4. For the NU applicant, rejection is on the website. Not on GATS, but the at the applyyourself.
  5. Lets hope that those who are not rejected by Northwestern are in the waitlist group.
  6. Hi, I am on a waitlist and am invited for the visitation weekend. I am pretty high on the waitilist according to the DGS and the school is my top choice. DO you guys have any advice for me on what to do during the visitation?
  7. I also just called them, and the grad coordinator said the same thing. I wonder what this means
  8. I mean I tried to call the Northwestern grad coordinator
  9. I tried to call the grad coordinator but no one pick up the phone. Has anyone tried to call? Northwestern is certainly driving us crazy
  10. Abureesh, I see a comparativist being rejected by northwestern. I really cant focus now doing other stuff. This is driving me crazy.
  11. I am interested in democratic transition/consolidation, voting behavior and comparative political economy in developing countries (esp. new democracies). I really like jeff winters and Andrew Roberts. I apply to UVA too and have not heard anything. I guess we should wait till the end of next week before we can really cross it out.
  12. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I will check the website again on Monday, if nothing changed, I will call them and ask.
  13. What is your subfield Abu Reesh? I am in Comparative. So far, I have only seen people in theory and IR that are rejected.
  14. My status hasnt changed, what does it mean? Anybody in the same situation?
  15. Just wondering, is there any Rice acceptance who are not going to take up the offer? I am waitlisted there for comparative.
  16. Any Rice comparativists acceptance or waitlisters that are not planning to accept the offer? I am on the wait list. It is the 1st school that does not reject me. Really hope to get in there!
  17. I have not received either acceptance nor rejection from pitt. Does that mean I am waitlisted?
  18. Seen someone got acceptance to UNC via website. I checked my application but there is nothing there. Has anyone checked theirs?
  19. Just some information (maybe bad news to some of you guys) I just called UCLA asking for my admission status and I was told that I am unofficially rejected. Very disappointed as I think my interest on comparative politics really fit with the department there. This means that those who do not get the call, might be in the same boat as me. On the bright side, there is more to life than grad school.
  20. I know this is pretty late, but Brown is one of the few programs that has a very late deadline (Feb 1). I am thinking of applying there in comparative politics (democracy and citizens behavior). Is anyone familiar with the program there? How competitive is the admission to Brown? (According to the ranking, brown ranked pretty low in the list 40ish).
  21. I have just taken my GRE today and found that the score is lower, although not significantly lower, than my first attempt. Do schools take the best score as the indicator or the latest score? Thanks
  22. Perhaps to be more specific, this is my research qn: Why does popular support for democracy vary across countries? Are economic factors more important or do political factors matter more to the people? Does the belief that democracy improves one’s economic situation or the confidence in elections to deliver accountability has the more influence in determining the popular support for democracy in new democracies? Hope I can get some comment.
