  1. It is difficult to gauge what is an appropriate page/word limit. Were you only given one prompt? Also, I think it is helpful to the admissions committee for an applicant to articulate his or her reasoning for applying to a given school. Although this question will most certainly be asked during the interview process.
  2. Has anyone ever attended one of their open house/interview days? What was your experience like?
  3. I'm sorry. Let me rephrase, "schools of professional psychology".
  4. I am applying to two School Psychology programs, one of them is a "school of psychology". At some point, my objective will be to apply to a doctoral program; however I am concerned how this program will be perceived by an admission committee. Can anyone give me any insight on these programs?
  5. I'm glad to have found this forum because I desperately need to hear other people's stories for encouragement. I will be a non-traditional student hopefully this Summer. I earned my BA and MA degrees when I was much younger, and now after a number of years I am returning to school. I attended a grad school which was geared toward older/non-traditional students, and I was often the only student in my class in my age group. So now I will be able to view things from a reversed perspective. But I need the encouragement because I was somewhat depressed when I considered how long it will take me to earn my degrees (Ed.S. and Ph.D.) as an older student, so I really needed to hear your stories.
  6. Well, I've applied to a PhD program in School Psych at Loyola but I was rejected. They did, however, offer to consider me for the Ed.S. program. I already have a Masters in another field, but I'm hoping I get in this program--even though it will delay my goals by 3 years, and I'm not a young woman. So, we shall see. I'm applying to another Ed.S. program as well, but I am not interested in attending this particular school as it is a "School of Psychology" and I am concerned about how this school will be perceived.
  7. I received my (expected) rejection from Loyola's Phd in School Psychology--by email. In the email, the program director invites me to have my application information "switched" to the dual Masters program. The admission requirements for the Phd and the Masters program are identical. If I didn't meet their standards for the Phd, it does not follow that I would meet that standard for the Masters program. Is this is a common occurence, to be invited to switch your application materials in this way?
