  1. Well, I'm biased, since I did my undergrad near Baltimore and I just love it there, but JHU's recruiting weekend was awesome (I went in Jan) and the people there were cool. Plus... its Hopkins, so its world-renowned (is that the right word? i bombed the GRE verbal) Duke was my other choice, but I haven't heard from them, one of the guys at the CMM weekend said Duke lost his application, and JHU was my top pick anyways. But Duke is great too, ridiculously pretty campus. Good luck with the decision making! Both are top universities, so congrats on the offers.
  2. i got an offer on friday from johns hopkins CMM, which i'm definitely going to accept. haven't heard a word from duke pathology (interviews or anything) assuming I got rejected, but, waiting to email them and say "you can disregard my application" until i have the actual letter in my hand from hopkins... even though ive listened to that acceptance voicemail a bajillion times to make sure i wasn't hallucinating.
  3. Applied to Hopkins CMM and Duke Pathology. Haven't heard from Duke, interviewing for JHU next week. Was sort of surprised that I got an interview, my application got sent over from Pathobio and I don't have a bunch of CMM's pre-reqs. I'm in the postbac program at NIH and had 2 years of undergrad research, and a pretty solid GPA. Did my undergrad in Baltimore so I know the area. Just FYI for anyone applying to schools in Baltimore, the good part of town is about a block from the bad part of town so take your time in finding an apartment, and if its cheap, theres a reason why. I'd be more stressed about applications but NIH keeps you busy. I have to FACS 108 samples today... time to go label some tubes.
  4. Only applied to 2 schools. Had no life in undergrad so 3.96 UGPA, BS in Biology, 2 summers of lab research + currently in year long postbaccalaureate research-intensive program that only accepts 10% of applicants. knew my recommendation letter writers on a first name basis. i'm still paranoid as anything. and $250 poorer because of application fees, which is why i could only afford to apply to 2 schools. please give me an interview...please?
