  1. Blargh! I wish they would just send all of their acceptances, waitlists and rejections at one time. It seems like indignity on top of indignity to make us guess about their intentions. I hope they aren't reading this--I still want my call.
  2. Bespeckled, that's a great attitude! Like I've been telling friends that have been applying, it really does only take one acceptance.
  3. You are very kind, StatelyPlump! Congratulations to you! Do all of you PhD applicants for creative writing already have MFA's? I am applying straight from undergrad (I'm a few years out, but I have no master's degree), and I hope I'm not completely out of my element. We'll see, I guess. I know that Utah has a B.A. to PhD direct route, at least.
  4. I applied at Utah, Lincoln, Illinois-Chicago, Cincinnati and Georgia along with USC. I haven't heard back from any of those, and I don't believe that acceptances have gone out. It doesn't seem like that many people are interested in PhD's in Lit/Creative Writing, at least not on this board. Good luck to you--sounds like some great choices. I'm surprised to hear that all of those schools allow creative dissertations. Something to note if this year doesn't work out for me.
  5. I haven't gotten in anywhere yet, and I've been watching a lot of Intervention and Hoarders to feel better about my life. Is that bad? Doo doo doo doo.
  6. I applied! I don't know that they'll start sending out acceptances to the middle of March--blah!--like they have in the past few years. Also, it's so competitive. It looks like they take 4/200. Where else did you apply, viracity?
  7. Thank you for checking on that, Katy85! It's great to have a reprieve, albeit a temporary one. Good luck to all Women's Studies/ English applicants!
  8. I've applied to several literature and creative writing PhD's, and I wondered you all thought about the "literature" part. USC's program is expressly billed as literature & creative writing, but do you think that it's really just writers who suffer through the literature portion? I'm really interested in doing both, hence my excitement to find the program!
  9. I've been lurking for a while, punishing myself with speculation, but I had to start posting on this thread! Michigan is my top choice, as well. I've applied for the Women's Studies/English joint PhD. Does anybody know if this track is on a different timeline than the regular acceptances? Has anybody emailed anyone in the program? Best of luck to all!
