  1. I get this feeling, but you really should take the GRE. While I can't directly quote specific people who run these programs, I can say that the GRE for an MFA writing program seems to be something that is required by the school. While the program probably would like to know that you aren't a complete slug re: English language, I don't think your GRE score matters that much to them. I say this because I got into a grad program, and while my score was above average, it was nothing to sneeze at. Also, I don't think there are "throwaway years," to just apply, so you can get rejected and reapply next year. First time applicants get in all the time. These babies cost so much money and time; don't throw it down just for kicks!
  2. I got into UCSD early this week! I then got waitlisted at Michener, and sent them a letter rejecting the waitlist, then officially accepted UCSD's offer. This was three years in the making. Stay confident, everyone. Always be submitting!
  3. I interviewed at UCSD and UT Austin T&D last week. I got a really great vibe from UCSD. Naomi Iizuka might be the nicest person in the world.
  4. Oh, also. Since you all got your shiny new plays for submission, you should know that WordBRIDGE is accepting applications for their 2012 Workshop. I'm an alumni. It's a really great deal. You get two weeks in Baltimore, working with actors, directors, and anyone you need to help develop your play (last year they brought in a circus clown for a playwright) I think the deadline is in four days. www.wordbridge.org
  5. Michener and Brown done. WUSTL, UT T&D, UCSD, and Yale to go. I sent Yale a physical copy of my play, but they say they want it electronically as well. However, there's a 50 page limit. Anyone have this problem? I tried contacting them, but they're away for the holidays.
