  1. I know it is kinda late, but I'm having trouble picking a primary field. For my proposal, I am doing a DNA nanotechnology project, which could fall under Chemistry of Life Science, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or Biomaterials. Does anyone have a suggestion under which it would be most appropriate? For background, I am in a Chemistry program, but my PI is in a Biochemistry department and also has a Bioengineering appointment. Thanks!
  2. Yes. I was just accepted to Berkeley, and I believe I applied under Chemical Bio or Synthetic.
  3. So, you think Berkeley done with admissions for the year?
  4. A lot of people have been accepted to UC Berkeley today. Can someone posts some stats or say what type of chemistry they want to go into?
  5. This is only saying that the school does not discriminate based on "national or ethnic origin." That is a different issue from citizenship.
  6. Yeah, I had a first interview as well. It went okay, but we'll see if I get another interview. The competition is crazy, so I wish the best of luck to both of us! What kind of questions were you asked? I was asked about the electromagnetic spectrum. Basically, just to convert units and talk about light and things like that. It was too difficult, the biggest problem I had was doing simple mathematics on paper. It is very stressful to know someone is looking over your answer as you are doing it...
  7. I was accepted to MIT with the following research interests: 1) Biological Chemistry 2) Inorganic 3) Materials I was called by a Biochemistry faculty member. That being said, I don't think they are done with admissions. I think they have done 1st round admissions for some divisions, but not others. Hope this is helpful, and good luck
  8. Same to you. How is MIT on your rankings? I'm waiting to hear back from Harvard, Berkeley, Northwestern, and Princeton.
  9. Hey, I was accepted to MIT too (on 12/28). I received a call from Brad Pentelute. I didn't mention him in my SOP because I'm thinking of going into materials (instead of Biochem, which I have been doing research in), but he mentioned that he might be working on some biomolecular materials in the future, which sounds very interesting. Stats: GPA: 3.96 (out of 4 at a top 3 liberal arts college) GRE (V/Q/A): 159/170/4.5 Subject GRE: 820 Research: 3 years, several poster presentations and oral presentations, 2 publications and 1 first author publication under review currently
