Congratulations to everyone who has acceptances! Does anyone have any inside information on UW Seattle decisions?? I think they are my last hope!

KelKel, pm me about UTD. Hopefully the "dump the worst" philosophy regarding Duke is inaccurate, as I was rejected this morning.

I have a feeling this week is going to be craaaaaazyyyyyyyy!

Acceptance: Wine and chocolate. Rejection: Tequila and a new car. On different days.

SapperDaddy- I think we are in the same geographic field. The only school we have in common is UW though... Also, if the rest of this application season goes like today, I am going to buy myself a new car as a consolation prize.

I think the fact that we are all reading into every correspondence means that we are excellent historians... regardless of where we get accepted. Kelkel, I am super stoked about our publication prospects.

After reading this gem of a forum, I have decided to change my thesis topic. It will now be titled.... "Cross Disciplinary Encounters: Unlurking Near Potential Competitors."

I've noticed some schools offer consolation partially funded MA acceptance to PhD candidates they deny. Is that a common practice? Also, I applied to UT, but now I feel that I should have applied to their dual MA in Slavic Studies/Public Affairs. I want to e-mail the director of the East European institute to ask her about applying to that program, but she is probably the person I would want to work with if I do get into the history program there. Should I just let it lie until I receive my official notice? You guys are awesome, reading your insight the past few weeks has been extremely helpful!

I feel ya, doodle! I keep repeating my CV, research and language skills in my head until I feel crazy. Then I worry that I should have applied to more "safety" schools. Then I tell myself that if I don't get into top tier a PhD is not the right route for me... It's a vicious cycle.

Does anybody know if Duke is done?

I got an e-mail from Chicago last week advising me to apply for FLAS funding. I keep hoping this is because they want me but won't be able to fund me fully.... any thoughts????? I am completely obsessing over this process. Can't they just make up their minds already?
