  1. I started in the fall, and it was fine. You could do it in the summer and if no one responds to you or if they don't know yet, do it again in the fall.
  2. Don't think about attaining a minimum. Just try to nail a perfect score. Just practice A LOT. And try not to take it more than two or three times.
  3. Hi, I lived in DC for four months, and I gotta say that I loved it. However, I lived in the northeast quadrant which is the safest area of DC. You could maybe live closer to the west side and commute? The transit system is really good in DC. However, if you're not all that passionate about Howard, then I would say don't do it. In terms of going for a masters or not, I don't know what to tell you. You should ask your advisors. When meeting people at interviews, a lot of them either had a masters or spent more than a few years after college doing research and lab managing at either their UG institution or some other one. Not many came straight out of UG.
  4. Can people with experience tell me if they think this is a good idea, or is it better to room with someone from a different department?
  5. i want to go to a b school afterwards...
  6. yeah, nyu! housing on manhattan just seems ridiculous. i seriously think a good option is jersey city, either in historic downtown or in hoboken. i've seen two bedrooms for less than $2000. then, it's just a fifteen minute path train ride to campus.
  7. Cornell is particularly competitive because they only take two graduate students a year. I went to their interviews this year (they interviewed six), and I was rejected.

    Need Help!

I think the answer is pretty obvious. Stay out of debt as much as possible.
  9. will be doing student housing. i'm afraid for when they kick us out of student housing. what if we can't find a place...? i think, ideally, you should look for apartments in the colder months cause that's when they're cheaper, but student housing is over during the summer. so... what do you do about that? pay two rents at the same time for five months? i don't think so.
  10. Did you get into NYU social psych? If so, I will see you there! Personally, I'd rather get married after grad school... Who can be ready at such a young age? Not me!
  11. There is a secondary POI that I would be highly interested in working with. I emailed him and he responded with something general but positive. I am fairly independent and my primary POI said that she'd be good about skype conversations and whatnot.
  12. I think the POI will be gone for most of Fall and will be in and out during Spring. During Spring, the POI doesn't have to teach but has to attend faculty meetings and brownbags.
  13. i just learned about this... what do you all think? i still have the option to go to a different school. any advice is appreciated.
  14. most definitely and let us know ASAP! =D
