  1. I don't know how common this is, but I know for certain that Harvard works off of the same system--as a program they offer a few more spots than they optimally would like to fill (in terms of funding) with the idea that some of those offers won't be accepted. Even if an offer is turned down, a POI is unable to offer that spot to another candidate even if he/she would like to because of the program's admissions guidlines.
  2. I posted the NYU interview and I'd be happy to PM anyone who is interested in who my POI is.
  3. I posted this a few weeks ago, but for the people wondering about Harvard: I received an email from my POI at Harvard (social psych) in early Jan inviting me for an interview. It seems that Harvard doesn't have an official interview process and leaves it up to individual faculty members, so I don't think my invite would be indicative of when others might have/might go out.
  4. Great to know--thanks!
  5. I also applied to NYU and Columbia for social psych! I've heard that Columbia pulls REALLY heavily from its own MA students for their psych PhD programs. I know for certain this is the case w/ Teachers College (clinical), but does anyone know if it is or isn't also true of the GSAS?
  6. Any word on whether the Princeton invitation was a mass mailing or an email from a POI?
  7. Looks like the UPenn invites were a mass mailing--can anyone confirm this and also if they were for a specific program track or across the dept?
  8. I was contacted by my POI at Harvard for an interview on the 9th, but I didn't post it on GradCafe. I did post it on SDN, and the post on the results survey pretty much exactly matches what I wrote, including the date. I'm wondering if someone else got the same invite as I did (likely from the same POI), or if someone just saw my posting on SDN and added it to the results survey. Either way though, anyone who would like to know who my POI is can PM me.
