  1. Ok great. That makes me feel much better. Thanks!
  2. Thanks! So should apply for all kinds of things even if they are not directly applicable to my research interest? It's the experience that looks good, not necessarily the content?
  3. Hello Everybody, I'm planning on applying for a Phd in Anthropology (emphasis on Archaeology) next year. I have lots of Lab experience, some field experience, presented at a few conferences and I am currently working on a publication with my advisor. I feel like I have done just about everything I can do as an undergraduate to make myself look appealing to grad programs. However, I will be taking a year off before going to graduate school and I am concerned about staying productive in my field during that time. Ideally, I would do something leading up to application season that would make me a more desirable candidate. I have made plans to volunteer at my school's museum to work with their collections, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I could do. I'm particularly worried because my school's collection isn't relevant to my personal research interests. Any thoughts? Thanks
  4. I'm also looking at Tulane, it looks fantastic. Do you happen to know how competitive the anthropology program is there? I'm trying to figure out if I even have a chance.
  5. In the name of procrastination (honors thesis ), I too will chime in. I'm looking for Phd programs in anthropology (archaeology). I'm really interested in Andean archaeology. I'm not sure exactly sure which schools are within my reach and I'd appreciate any kind of information from people with experience in this area. My list so far is: UCLA, UCSB, Vanderbilt and Tulane.
  6. thanks guys! can't wait for application season
  7. Hello Andeanists! I'm looking to apply next year and was hoping to get the scoop on some programs. I'm looking at UIC/Field Museum, Vanderbilt, UCLA, UCSB, and maybe an Ivy (just for kicks). Anything to share? Thanks!
  8. hello all I'm an undergrad and I'm looking at graduate programs (MAs and PhDs) in Anthropology (Archaeology). MAPSS seems very appealing to me and I was just wondering how competitive it is and what kind of credentials successful applicants have.
