  1. Ah well it didn't work. Apparently they won't hear appeals for this type of decision. Interestingly, a friend in my department had the same thing happen to her (NSERC summarily dismissed her PGS/CGS-D application on the grounds that it was outside their mandate), and her proposal consisted of work to be done with her supervisor who currently holds an NSERC discovery grant for precisely the project she proposed! Better luck to everyone else!!
  2. I just received an email from NSERC stating that my PGS/CGS-D application was removed from the contest, owing to it not being sufficiently within their mandate. They suggested applying to CIHR instead. Obviously I disagree with this, if I had thought it appropriate for CIHR I would have just sent it there in the first place (and it was a fairly strong application if I do say so myself). Anyhow, is there any way I can find out their rationale for this? Perhaps a copy of the reviewer's remarks or something of that sort? Do I have any recourse, or should I just try again next year?
