According to people that I've talked to, everyone is funded, but everyone hasn't received their letters yet.

Sure! As said previously, I will be missing dinner tonight, but I will report back my impressions via PM when I get back home. What is your sub-field, if you don't mind me asking? -

I agree! It is the least they can do for the application fee we paid! -

I'm off to UT-Austin today and tomorrow. I won't be at the dinner tonight due to an exam, but I am looking forward to meeting some GradCafe-ers tomorrow! PM me if you'll be there! -

I am not sure, but I would not be surprised. Chicago has great MA programs, but MAPSS and the PoliSci departments are not officially tied together. So I guess it is MAPSS decision if they want to offer. I guess this was a lot of rambling and no help... Sorry! -

I applied to MAPSS directly. I got a call from one of their program managers like a month ago to see if I wanted to be considered for CIR as well since my interests fit the program pretty closely. -

Claiming acceptances to two of Chicago's MA programs. I will be ultimately turning it down for PhD prospects, but still happy nonetheless. -

If you go to a MA program, you can build up those LORs with people more known in the field. And if your GRE is a tad low, study and take it again! There is no harm in that! Basically, do what you can to fix the weak spots that you see, and go for it again next year. As people in this forum have demonstrated, it can have amazing effects! -

I am glad to see people getting positive news, even if there is no funding at the moment. Who knows? Some might open up! Congratulations all around! -

Congratulations!!! Hopefully funding will open up for you! -
I apologize for the delay in response. I was pretty sick and had to go to the ER, but I am doing better now. Below are some of the details from Texas for funding. The annual details of the funding guaranteed for two years are: · Qualification for in-state tuition; · $3,784 of tuition assistance each semester; · 12-month qualification for faculty/staff health insurance, valued at $426/month; · A 9-month stipend of $13,154 if you have a bachelor’s degree; · A 9-month stipend of $14,490 if you have a master’s degree; · Office space in the department. The conditions attached to this award are: · Acceptance of your 20-hour/week teaching assistantship; · Registering for 9 semester hours each long semester; · Satisfactory progress in the program, as assessed annually by a faculty financial aid committee that comparatively evaluates all of our students receiving departmental support based on their grades, faculty recommendations, and personal statements. After your second year in the program you will be eligible for additional sources of support at the University of Texas at Austin, including additional positions as a teaching or research assistant. A number of dissertation fellowships are also available each year from the Department, the Graduate School, and the College of Liberal Arts. Some of our most advanced students are supported as Assistant Instructors teaching their own undergraduate level courses.

I shall be hanging around also. My cycle is essentially done, and I am extremely pleased with the schools that I have been accepted to. But I enjoy the community and comraderie here! It's my turn to support those who supported me! Therefore, I'll be around for the long haul. -
There was a very extensive funding email that I received. I'll post the details later when I am on my computer rather than my phone.

Doorkeeper, Hopkins has sent out some acceptances, and recently people have been getting rejections by mail. I haven't heard anything else yet either, so who knows. -

I am not sure about the number of admitted students, but I do know that those schools are notorious for not funding very many of those they do admit. -

Claiming a Yale rejection here too. Since I hadn't heard anything when everyone was getting acceptances, I was expecting it. At least Yale was kind enough to send an email, unlike Northwestern. While I have been accepted to four great programs that I am very exciting about the possibility of attending, getting rejections still sorta sting. Anyway, enough whining! Congratulations to all of the acceptances in recent days! It is so nice to see people getting good news as I wind down my application cycle. -

That is about how my bf and I have been all through undergrad. We are lucky for grad that we can be in the same place now. -
We can predict all we want at this stage, but who knows what will happen. All we can do is make the best decision based off of the information presented and then pray a bunch that it works out the way we hope that it will...

Congrats balderdash! I am trying to figure out how to make the funding work up there, but luckily my bf has been accepted in Chemistry so two stipends make it much easier than one. Hopefully I'll see you in Madison at the end of March! -

Claiming a Northwestern rejection here. You know what would have been cool, an email telling us to check the website rather than just sorta randomly finding it. Silliness. -
I would most definitely agree with that. I mean, money is not everything and you should not make your grad decisions on stipends alone, but being comfortable sure does help.

I believe that Vanderbilt is trying to become one of those up-and-coming departments, but I am not sure that it is there yet. They have higher like ten new faculty members over the last four years, and have really been trying to beef up their program. For all of us girls on GC interested in IR, Vanderbilt has a number of female professors which can be very appealing. In addition, the administration at Vanderbilt is putting their money where their mouth is in terms of the Political Science department. Not only have they been hiring great, young faculty members, they have also told the department to admit more graduate students and offer them fantastic stipends and fellowships. I have been admitted to Vandy (not saying that I am accepting because who knows yet), and have been awarded a $21,000 stipend which is fantastic for the relatively low cost of living in Nashville. Thus far the placement history isn't there yet, but I think the work and money that Vanderbilt has put in will begin to pan out. Just my thoughts. Edited for my inability to spell and punctuate correctly.
