  1. Germany ETA -- accepted! Good luck to everyone else!
  2. Germany ETAs, what do you guys think the hold-up is? It seems odd that some rejection and alternate emails went out yesterday, but nobody else has heard anything.
  3. Cheerios, I never received a confirmation or anything after sending in my transcript and supplemental materials for the Germany ETA. My FPA said that (going off of past experience) we'll likely hear back between the third week of March and the first week of April.
  4. KMFE89: Yes, I've simply translated my Personal Statement and Statement of Grant Purpose into German. Thus, each is still a page in length.
  5. Could any other Germany ETA-ers clarify the top portion of the PAD application for me? Silly question, I know, but the first few parts of the "Angaben zur Person" section are a bit confusing to me, mainly with the name(s) and address(es) -- e.g., what do we put in the box for Heimatanschrift? (I know that it means "home address," but what do we put in that box as opposed to the next ones below it?) Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Thanks for your response! It's certainly not the quantitative aspect of econ that is giving me trouble, but more so the grading style of my professor. My GPA is good (3.9+). The problem, however, is that I don't want this econ class to negatively affect my GPA. I'd like to pass-fail the class (I'll surely "pass"), but I don't know if not having a definite grade (especially a B or better) would hurt me in regards to admissions to comparative politics Ph.D. programs (I'm a senior, BTW, and I'm applying to grad school this fall). Also, I can likely get at least a B in the class, but I really don't want that on my transcript. The only other quantitative-like classes that I've taken are finite mathematics (I got an A) and political analysis (I got a B+). Do you have any insight?
  7. Hi all, I'm currently taking a general economics course. However, I'm not doing as well as I would like (I could still pass-fail the course, though then I wouldn't have an actual grade to show for it) and am wondering if political science Ph.D. programs (specifically, comparative politics programs) generally require (or would like for) their applicants to have taken introductory economics? Thank you for your help!
  8. I've never heard of having to do this. Could you guys fill me in a bit more? This sounds a bit intimidating.
  9. I just got an official email of my being "recommended" for an ETA in Germany -- good luck to everyone!
  10. Congrats, Molly! My FPA actually found out yesterday evening by checking the application statuses online (through the FPA account).
  11. Thank you all! I found out from my FPA, so I'm still waiting on that email, too.
  12. Thank you! I'd been pretty calm throughout most of the process, but I'd been getting restless the past week or so. (Though I don't know where my first post went? But yes, I found out yesterday evening that my application for an ETA in Germany has been "recommended" to the next round.) I hope that today brings good news for everyone!
