YAY!!! So you and Kel are going to be cohort mates? How many other Bearcats are there on here I wonder?
Yeah we are! Apart from Kelkel, I don't know any other Bearcat on here, Oseirus. I guess we will find out on orientation day. It'd be fun to meet posters/lurkers of the history board in person.

I am going to SUNY Binghamton, where I am offered full funding and have the best fit in terms of research interests. This also enables me to live closer to my sister (in the same state) after living apart in two different continents for eight years. I am truly excited!!!

Hi guys, I received a funded offer today, which I will definitely accept. I am thinking of wrriting a thank-you email to my POI first (I am currently not in the USA). I also want to get prepared for this long journey ahead but I am not so sure what questions I should ask him right now. Should I ask him something like recommended readings or language training? Any suggestions? Thank you a lot.

Guys!!!!!!!!!! I'm in at Stony Brook and they're nominating me for a fellowship which will "enhance considerably the amount" of $ they are offering!
I'm so stoked. I'm on the bus to the airport and I got an email from the DGS and started cackling and flailing about. I then apologized to everyone on the bus and they smiled at me. Super happy!!
And congrats Twist of Fate!!!
Congrats crazedandinfused!!! When I saw an acceptance posted on the result board I guessed it was you, and yeahhh I was right
-
KelKel, congrats on your acceptance at Binghamton. It turns out that they dealt with MA applications before PhD ones (pretty strange, isn't it?). This makes me even more nervous because I really want to get in at this school. I have a great fit there and my POI seems really nice. Anyway, congratulations again Kelkel!
-
I did! But for the MA program. Omg, I cannot wait two more weeks. It's my only other viable option left and I'm soooo desperate to know. What's your field?
Hi Kelkel, my field is East Asia. I applied to their PhD program. Do you have any POI there? I will keep you updated if I hear anything else.
-
Hi everyone, anyone here applied to SUNY Binghamton this year? I received an email from my POI today saying that he Graduate Committee held its first admissions meeting yesterday. They're still in the process of reviewing applications and making funding decisions. Final results will come out in about two weeks.

I'm not sure I agree with this -- there's no harm in making the correction, assuming it's done tactfully and without the expectation that they'll reconsider. Five courses is significant, at my school four history courses gets you a minor and seven is the major! I don't think it's a coincidence or typo that she said three either, knowing that two of your courses were grad seminars and could have been overlooked as a result.
I agree with Safferz. You may never know what difference this correction could make to your chance of being admitted.
