  1. I will share mine with you. PM me your email address and I will get it to you this evening when I am off work.
  2. Thank you tunnels! This makes me think that they have decisions, but are just "working to get the notifications out." Let's pretend that's the case. That means this week or next. I wonder if the Ash Wednesday/Good Friday/ Easter holiday(s) are going to interfere. I don't know anything much about these holidays, but they sure seem to jam up the public transit in my area.
  3. I'm sure that there is a better way to spend my lunch breaks than obsessively checking this forum.... perhaps maniacally tapping on my email refresh button? 31 countries down, 41 to go. C'mon big money. No whammies, no whammies.... STOP!
  4. Thanks, tunnels. I'm hoping that since Argentina, Chile, and Columbia have heard that we are next up the pipeline. Mexico has responded, too, so it's a C/CA sandwich. Fingers crossed for this week!
  5. That's great! Congratulations!!!
  6. It's not a semi-rejection. Consider it a partial acceptance. Having been named as alternate for more internships/fellowships than I care to count, and having been eventually awarded most of them, I can say this without being unduly optimistic. At least you finally heard something.
  7. "classroom survival skills" Aaahh hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa! Sorry, I am currently the lead teacher at a preschool, and was just thinking today about how reading The Art of War has helped me navigate this experience.
  8. Not a Germany applicant- but I second this!!! I am so interested to hear what others have proposed to do, even if they did not get accepted. Also, I am wondering what happens after we are all put out of our misery as far as waiting goes. Do we start a new forum based on waiting-to-depart?
  9. Condolences. Remember that you can always reapply (if you can stand the wait again). Best of luck in all your endeavors.
  10. Yes. My host organization has been super helpful and supportive. My husband and I spend my last student refund check on tickets to visit the village we will (??please??) be in. We worked for a week at the organization and fell in love with the pueblo and the people there. We cannot wait to go back- the kids have been asking about it a lot lately, too. They are excited to meet the kids I'll be working with (positive thinking!). Also, I was told by a former professor today that, if I am approved, he has five really nice cameras to donate to my project!!! Come on, Costa Rica- five, count 'em, FIVE fancy new cameras. That's enough to push me into approval territory, right?
  11. I had a good feeling about March 23rd, but no dice. Maybe this week? Finally got the dreaded phone call from a former professor asking about the news. The answer: ".... still waiting." Wishing I had never mentioned it to anyone- now they are all getting antsy, too. **No pressure, people!**
  12. I think it would depend on your housing situation, which is probably linked to whether you are on a full grant or ETA. I am a full grant applicant, and my family is all coming- me, my husband, two kids, and two dogs- if (when?) Costa Rica approves me. We will be responsible for securing our own housing there and bearing the cost of flying the dogs.
  13. Continuing to feel nauseous every time I see a white-ish envelope in the mailbox. Just bills and maid service adverts. Damn it! And up yours, too, mystery e-mails. I wish there was a filter for everything except what you want to hear about. (Ahem *Fulbright*).
  14. How do I find out who, exactly, to contact?
  15. Hi all. This is my second post, the first being notice of my recommendation to Costa Rica. I have been on the web nearly every day searching for info on someone ANYONE who can tell me when to expect to hear back from my country. My husband is not shaving until we get word and his beard is making me insane! **We'll blame it on the hair, not my burning desire for confirmation** Does anyone here have info as to ballpark on when Latin American countries generally respond? I saw the Peru tweet (CONGRATS!!!), and of course Europe is always first out of the gate (Congrats to all of you as well!). *sigh* It's not like we're hearing anything today anyway. Stupid weekends- oh, how I used to look forward to you.
  16. This is my first time posting on GradCafe. I received notice that I was reccomended for Full grant in Anthropology in Costa Rica.
