me on the same boat. i m doing my undergrad in the US as an international student. the decision is very tough for me to make since I can hardly picture myself living in the same place where is not my hometown for another five to seven years. if i choose to stay, by the time i graduate with that phd degree, i will spend more than 1/3 of my life living in a foreign city alone(cry, i need family). although i can see the advantages of staying in my home institute. besides already have good relationships with faculties in the department, NO NEED TO MOVE attracts me the most. it would definitely save me tons of time and energy and it ll make it easier for me to plan the upcoming summer. Yet my plan now is to visit all schools that admits me and to see if i want any fresh air/environment in the next few years.

i would suggest u to apply for PhD instead since it seems that they will either take you or forward ur application to MAPSS.it doesn't hurt to try.

not a word yet, but i saw someone declared acceptance already this week...i heard that JHU is only going to admit 1 or 2 students this year. is it true?

received a weird email from uc davis today... ...We are in the process of making a decision on your application for admission. You may review the decision after 8:00 a.m. PST on February 17, 2012, by accessing your UC Davis application on the online admission web site. Please contact the Sociology program if you have any questions regarding this decision....... according to the result survey from past years, davis used to call admitted students, is this one telling me that "hi there, you will be rejected in three days?"

I didn't look into programs at SD and R but I went to high school in R area...have to say that SD is a much exciting place to spend 5-7 years than R. btw, anyone apply to Davis?

no word as well here. last year they did not start to send out notification until Feb 14... which is next week, so lets be patient.

it might be a mistake. mine also says incomplete and i was told my "grad school transcript is missing". i am going to come straight out of undergrad so i wont have any transcript from grad level. when i emailed DGS(demography) in december, i was told it's a system error and my application is ready for review...
