  1. Right, Dagny1984! I went ahead and regarded it as a rejection, and sent my decision to go to another school. I don't mean to be sour grapes, but it would have been nice if Penn just let their rejections know so, as soon as expedient -- I mean, they must have at least SOME who are already clear rejections, most likely including me.
  2. "Our admission committee is still reviewing applications and should have decisions mailed by the end of the month very beginning of April. Thank you for your interest in Penn State." Grrrrr.
  3. Wherewolf, out of curiosity -- were you disappointed with Rochester? (re: "be okay with not going to Rochester") I'm not going anyway, so don't feel bad about criticizing ...
  4. Looks like you got tons of great acceptances, Jbarks -- congrats for those!
  5. I can't take the offer though -- it only offers the "possibility" of partial funding, and I can't go through the hell of reapplying for PH.D.s again after a year-long MA. I just appreciated it as a gesture that my application wasn't entirely laughable.
  6. Okay, I got my letter. I applied to Ph.D. but they're offering me an M.A. admission instead. I guess that's one of the nicer ways to be rejected.
  7. Thanks for letting me know, "impending" -- and "jywayne." -- well, I feel a little less like a curmudgeon knowing that I'm not the only one impatient about their process. Congrats to "impending"! Two awesome acceptances!
  8. There was an MA-acceptance-by-phone post on the results board yesterday, I think. I wonder if this person also had previously received a quasi-waitlist email? What I mean is, if I didn't get ANY email, does that mean it's safe for me to assume I'm definitely out? I just want to know! Didn't get any reply to an inquiry email either. I should just presume rejection and move on right?
  9. I wish they'd at least send out the definite rejections earlier. This is the only school that I'm waiting on before finally accepting an offer at another school.
  10. Thank you so much, mono411! That's really helpful. I may PM you soon. My interests are creative writing & modernism, so I guess I got doubly lucky.
  11. Dagny1984, the SUNY website says "Each year, the graduate program awards teaching assistantships to six to ten incoming Ph.D. students." (i.e. all English Ph.D. students, I presume) - so maybe mono411's info was about funded Ph.D. positions in general.
  12. mono411 - do please share more about what Albany is like! Right now, my greatest curiosity is whether the grad students have any trouble extending the G.A. funding from their 4th year on, but I'm really eager to hear any other info about the faculty strengths, etc. What are some of the changes the department is going through?
  13. Oh, may I pry and ask who? I understand if you'd rather not tell.
