brown es tan selectivo. ver los resultados en el survey, me tiene aterrada. casi todos son "rejected".

I concur absolutely with Andsowego. Yeah, its pretty offensive (when it comes to writing, because it has nothing to do with it). But, I think what they're trying to explain with "writing with an accent" is just that a non-native english speaker will write as he/she pronounce a word (and it could be solved with reading) or how he/she changes the syntax of a sentence. There are a few programs sold for non-english speakers that emphasizes on "hable ingles, leyendo en español" (learn how to speak english reading in spanish-kind of phonetically-). That may be the reason behind the "writing with an accent". As a spanish native and an aspiring writer, I find it very difficult to translate everything. We dont write as we speak. If we want to be a good writer we should use a rich vocabulary. Somehow in English composition following that simple rule may sound pedantic. Anyways, be equally strict no matter what...though, the non-graded draft that suggested someone is a good thing.

yo ando igual. refresh al email+result survey de aca. capaz se tarden un poco mas (al menos en brown), el deadline de los dos o tres que recientemente han posteado las respuestas fue en diciembre o enero 3. me enferma leer: "a decision has not yet been made".

I think you have to keep waiting for a while (at least for the UPR). They have extended the deadline's admission (til today, actually).

Sinceramente, mi busqueda de universidades la base en el curriculo no en la facultad. :/ Y lo del TROK mas Mayo 31 fue cuando complete los creditos del bachillerato (no habia visto el an-o, solo el mes...por eso no entendia y estaba loca por saber). ahora a esperar.

Las siglas son TROK, vi mayo 31 pero no el año-->2011. Cuando acabe el BA. LOL. La ansiedad me tiene mal. Gracias por la recibida.

mi primera opcion es cualquiera que me pague todo..jaja. Brown fue siempre mi favorita hasta que me fije bien en el curriculo del CUNY. digamos que ahora estan a la par, cada una tiene sus encantos. me gustaria especializarme en poesia latinoamericana contemporanea, pero estoy abierta a otras opciones. de hecho, conozco a una profesora graduada de Brown, y me dio a entender que no siempre puedes elegir lo que quisieras para la investigacion.

buscando info en la web sobre la solicitud del CUNY, me tope con este foro. estoy desesperada porque no entiendo unas siglas que pusieron en mi solicitud con fecha de mayo 31. ya estoy en estres! tambien solicite en Brown, por lo que veo hay bastante competencia. mi ingles es casi fatal, me falto un punto para tener el minimo de toefl (89) y mi GRE fue un poco mas alto que el promedio (teniendo en cuenta que lo comparan con gente del mismo background). lo unico que me salva y por lo que me siento satisfecha es con mi experiencia previa y mi tesis monografica (que envie como writing sample). nada, exito a tod@s.
