  1. Yeah definitely going to second rising_star. Trying to leverage a typo in such a way is going to make you "that guy" in the department, should you choose to accept their offer.
  2. Excellent post! You said exactly what I was thinking reading some of the comments on this thread, but couldn't verbalize. Well said. Anyone who feels that entitled before entering academia is going to be ground down miserably once they actually enter a program. From what I've been told, the first two years of many programs are basically intellectual hazing, and having an attitude problem is not going to endear you to anyone.
  3. It also depends largely on what field you are applying to. For example, last year none of the top thirty PhD programs in Economics sent out any acceptances until mid-February to mid-March. I think figuring out when your programs sent out acceptances in past years is the best benchmark for when to get pessimistic
