  1. Still no word from MICA? And after they sent us that email saying that they would email us first thing Monday morning and let us know what was going on. I couldn't even get ahold of graduate admissions today. What the h#@% man? This is seriously getting frustrating.
  2. Yes, this stinks. I haven't received any financial aid love anywhere else yet, so I guess I'll keep waiting as long as I can for MICA. I missed the date to put down my deposit at SVA yesterday (didn't really like the program too much and they weren't offering a cent of aid) and now I'm down to SFAI's dual MFA/MA program, SAIC post-bac, and Art Center. Would it be stupid to just wait another year and apply again? If I am going to pay a fortune anyway, I would like it to at least be for a program that I love.
  3. Thanks for the reply. That's good news I guess, but I am like you- I just want to be done with this whole thing. If I am going to attend SVA, I need to put down $1000 by Thursday. I'm kind of cutting it close as it is and I don't know what i should do. I really like MICA, so I will wait it out. Grrrr... this whole process could seriously put me over the edge.
  4. Did anyone on the waitlist hear back today? Hoping there is still hope.
  5. Hey does anyone know anything about Art Center for painting/drawing? I visited there last spring and couldn't quite get a feel for the place. Right now I am down to deciding between SVA and Art Center. HELP
  6. Well, it looks like at this point I am left to decide between Art Center and SVA. Does anyone know anything about either of these in terms of fine arts? I have a friend who started at SVA this year. I have talked to her quite a bit about the program and I still can't quite decide whether it is the program for me. I know that CCA ranks pretty well, but I don't know how much of this is because of their design program. Any advice? Please.
  7. I think that it is probably a good idea to call or write and politely ask if they can give you any additional information. If nothing else, it tells them that you are interested.
  8. I am sort of in the same boat. I am still being considered for the post-bac at SAIC. I realize that it is a big expense, but the way I look at it, it could be about the same price as doing a three year MFA at another school. I have been accepted to Art Center, which has a three year MFA. I am seriously considering taking the SAIC offer if I get it since it would be about the same price. SAIC was one of my top schools and from the research that I have found, they accept a large percentage of their post bac students into the MFA program. One year they accepted every post-bac in the program. Additionally, you could look at it as an extra year to be in an environment where you receive critical feedback from other artists and another year to network. Admittedly, a very expensive extra year. don't know... hard decision.
  9. I know I am getting these in sort of late, but here is my almost final count: SFAI- I know that my app made it through the MFA decisions but STILL waiting to hear on the MA (applied to dual program) SVA- accepted Art Center- accepted MICA- waitlisted SAIC- rejected (was asked to apply to post bac, but have not heard back yet) UCLA- rejected Pratt- rejected RISD- rejected Calarts- rejected UT- rejected UCSD- rejected UC Berkeley- rejected Otis- ? Carnegie Mellon- rejected CCA- interviewed, rejected Well, I am down to SVA and Art Center (and, my fingers are crossed, MAYBE MICA). Does anyone know anything about SVA or Art Center? I have a friend who is currently attending SVA and I am having a hard time getting a feel for the program. I am not sure that it is quite as rigorous as I might like. Art Center is considerably more expensive, however. I know that CCA ranks very well for the graphic design, but despite having visited, I don't know how well they are ranked for fine arts. Suddenly, now that I have a couple of acceptances, I am questioning the quality of the schools. From the posts that I have read it seems that many of us are experiencing this. I thought that by this point in the game, I would know what I wanted to do. I didn't expect this to be so confusing. Any suggestions or thoughts would be very much appreciated.
  10. Here's my update: RISD: no SAIC: no to MFA, still waiting to hear back about post-bac CALARTS: no Pratt: no SFAI: accepted to studio program, waiting to hear back about the dual program SVA: accepted- received acceptance letter yesterday CCA: received a rejection letter today that in light of my studio defecit offered me acceptance to their BFA program (a little concerning considering that I hold a BFA in Painting and a BFA in Art History) Oh well MICA: ? Otis: ? Art Center: ? Carnegie Mellon: no UCLA: no UT: no So, it looks like a will be deciding between SVA, SFAI, and possibly SAIC's post-bac. I know everyone seems to be against the post bac programs, but I just found out that a large percentage of SAIC's post bacs go into their MFA program. Any thoughts? Also, does anyone know much about SVA? If I don't get into the dual program at SFAI then it will be no contest between SVA and SFAI, but if I do get into the dual program I might have to think about it. Does anyone have any advice?
  11. I just found this site. I, too, am biting my nails. I have applied for painting, and haven't received many positive results. This process is brutal. Here are my results: RISD: rejected UCLA: rejected UT Austin : rejected CALARTS: rejected SFAI (applied to the dual program): accepted to the MFA but haven't heard yet about the MA Pratt: rejected SAIC: rejected from the MFA, interviewed today for the post-bac CCA: interviewed 2/19, no word yet MICA: ? SVA: ? Carnegie Mellon: ? Otis: ? Art Center? Has anyone in painting heard yet from CCA? I thought that my interview went very well, but I haven't heard back. Now that I see other people have received emails I am starting to worry.
