  1. I believe that no news would be pretty good news now! Still waiting for UNC, and other schools. Have some admissions already, still waiting for better news!
  2. Suprised to see so many rejections here, good luck to the rest !
  3. @ greendiplomat Me MESc..Good luck to you all!
  4. Hi, fiona.du! Great to see another Chinese here
  5. @MCRM Thank you for your info! I need Yale's good news so badly to live normally again..But I think I will be fine if I didn't make it. Fingers crossed for everyone here.
  6. @LHL Thanks for your insight. Yes I see. GRE is just one factor in our applications. I agree that writing is important for US applicants, but I think the graduate schools might not emphasize much on international students' writing since English is our second language.. @MCRM Thanks, lucky that my Toefl will not hold me back. Regarding the financial aid from Duke, I guess GPA is very important for international apps. I know a girl with a moderate GRE got 12k from Nicholas. Seems FES is the most generous in the case of financial aids for international students, I didn't apply to SNRE, Bren and Nicholas because I'm short in money. How I wish I were rich .
  7. Thanks @ cunninglynguist @akl_cat . Kind of relief I think I'm a bit too anxious, take it easy, take it easy...
  8. @akl_cat What I know is that Yale FES admitted 3 or 4 students from Peking University(No.1 here) last year and at least 3 were undergraduates, but I'm not quite sure how many Chinese in total they admitted in 11Fall and how many attended in the end. That's kind of weird, but true according to records from pku bbs. My 3 or 4 out of 7 data was from a girl admitted in 09fall, and that maybe a typical situation for her year. Sorry that I don't have any insight for the world wide situation, but I guess China has quite a big group of undergrad applicants to FES, thus the admitted number seems relatively bigger. Notice, my data is for MESc+MEM+MF Anyway, good luck to us all.. I'm kind of worried about myself, but trying to be positive and waiting in patience~ Guys~I'm wondering how people view GRE scores in the US. I have a very low V (56%) and good Q(98%), which part is more important in your perspective?
  9. @jbr00ks9 Good luck to your fellowship~I see so many people around support their education by themselves, that seems crazy... @LHL I'm also new here, ha...Actually, I'm not at all a M.E.M student. My interest lies in EnvChem and EnvHealth. Desperately waiting for Yale FES MESc and UNC ESE MS. Surprised that almost everyone here applied to Yale...
  10. @MCRM They may transfer me to the MEM pool if I cannot match a faculty advisor, so we are almost in the same boat. As I have acquired, Yale FES admitted approximately 7 Chinese students each year, about 3 or 4 among those were undergraduate seniors from top universities with excellent academic credentials without work experiences. Competition is so fierce, hoping for the best... @jbr00ks9 It's great for you to be admitted by UNC-CH! As for MS programs I just applied for Yale, UNC-CH and Waterloo( applied because of the scholarship), Yale MESc is definitely my top choice, but I will choose considering $$$. Now I'm desperately waiting for my first offer, nearly driving me crazy By the way, have you heard anything about financial assistance for UNC? I knew several Chinese students admitted by MS of MSPH with full funding in the last few years.
  11. Hi guys, I'm an international student waiting for Yale FES too, I applied for MESc in EnvHealth..guess I will not have the courage to check the decision for Yale two weeks later...I don't have work experience and I'm wondering whether a 3.7GPA plus some research experiences will work out By the way, I see people admitted or rejected to UNC ESE master programs, but I'm still waiting for it, seems admission for this program is on a rolling basis this year Good luck for everyone!
