  1. Sorry to hear about that. I am also in the UK and waiting for the PDF results. Can you please tell us about your stat?
  2. I am not in a situation to believe it. Probably NSERC denied due to the over qualification. Did you apply for Banting? I think you can easily win Banting. Your profile is even very suitable for a faculty position.
  3. But they ask to mention the submitted paper with manuscript number.
  4. It is very much shocking!!!! 13 first author journals were not enough!!!!! What is your area of research?
  5. Does it mean that your referees did not write strongly to support your application? Your profile seems very strong to me.
  6. Sorry to hear about that. If a referee can not write strongly then he/she should tell the applicant about it before writing the reference letter. However, I believe that you will get whatever you deserve. Congratulation on your awarding PhD and wish you all the best.
  7. Journal of Applied Physics is highly ranked journal (just after the APL) in the field of applied physics. Are you working in the area of semiconductor?
  8. Does it mean that one of your referee was not well known or high profile? Or the referee did not write strongly to support you. I am again afraid. First of all both of my referees are from outside Canada, they are not well known. Also, I do not know what they wrote? :( However, I hope I will receive my letter by coming Friday.
  9. Your profile looks very strong too me. If I compare my profile with yours then my application is not even worthy for IRDF .
  10. Congratulations!! An IRDF is also good. Can you please tell us your stats?
  11. Does it mean that you are in the waiting list? Did they offer you IRDF?
  12. Congratulations!!!! Can you please give some idea about the next steps? I mean, if you accept the IRDF how to find out a company? Is it very easy?
  13. 15 user(s) are reading this topic increasing ...... :D
  14. I hope you have a strong possibility. I am a PDF applicant too and my profile is almost similar to you. However, I have to wait ~10 more days to receive the notification letter because my address is in UK.
  15. In that case you have to stay here ~10 more days. My contact address is in UK and Easter break in UK is till next Thursday :P
  16. I think this information is correct. We have to wait until next week. :(
  17. By checking this thread now I know that I will receive the notification letter in April. :D
  18. Based on this repot http://nghoussoub.co...bers/#more-4130 I guess PDF success rate will be higher compared to 2011 or almost smae like 2011 (if budger cut affect it).
  19. Thank you for this thoughtful information. Specially in the area of novel materials growth, optimization and characterization research groups from different part of the world work together. This not only increase the possibility of success of the research but also reduces a lot of cost associated with the research because the groups share their resources and knowledge. In such a research work and publications it does not matter how many authors are in the paper and the position of the authors in the paper. It is the matter of importance of your research.
  20. I am really puzzled :( Is some one playing with our emotion?? :(
  21. I think some applicants received the letter but do not have enough time to update us. :) My waiting time will be much longer since my current address is outside Canada.
  22. If we are talking about "Nature" / "Science" / "PNAS" then I will agree about the importance of impact factor because these journals publish the very new research results in every field. However, impact factor of a field specific journals can not be compared with the journals of other fields. Like, carbon nanotube / nanotechnology related research papers are frequently published in nano letters / advanced materials which have impact factor ~ 10. These research areas are new and other peoples from these area cite these works frequently. On the other hand, Physics / Applied physics / Chemistry related journals are frequently published in the journals under American Inst. of Phys / Chem. like Apllied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics etc. etc. which has impact factor ~ 4 or lower. But these journals are top ranked in their area although impact factor is lower. So, impact factor carries some value but not a general standard. We have to be cautious to talk about impact factor. Regarding the Journal count / number of conference papers / repeating presentations are also rational matter. It can not be evaluated based on a general standard. It will take several hours for me to discuss the philosophy/some politics behind it. I think the reviewers are wise enough to consider all the factors. I wish good luck with all of your NSERC application.
  23. Thanks faming. I think human factors are quiet interesting and hot area. I wish you good luck with Banting fellowship application too.
  24. Hi faming. Your achievements are amazing. What is your area of research?
  25. Hi faming. Congratulations!!! I hope you will be awarded Banting too. Are 37 publications all journal papers? How did you accommodate all in 4 page limits?
