I just received the award package today

Yeah I have those same numbers too in red. It also looks like porter and brandon (who is my PO) were cc'd on that email. And it seems like every time I reopen my account it and check that page it resends the email.

Woah, Woah, woah, so we are only getting 2 years, 24 months of funding for 2014/2015 and 2015/2016? Or does he mean we just aren't getting money retroactively for 2012/2013, and we still will get funded for 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017 for a total of 36 months?

Do you guys know who your project officer is? It sounds like the person that emailed you that you got the award, so for me that is brandon jones. Do you guys have different POs? Or did you all get an email from brandon? he Project Officer (PO) is located in NCER. This is probably the person who notified you that you were a fellowship finalist.

Haha, yeah that is so true that the decision could be made by the end of this month, but they could take a while to notify us.

I am going to stick by Brandon's words, he has been so vague and noncommittal about everything until this email, so for him to come and say something pretty firm, barring any foreseen circumstances, I think it is good. The only other time where we were told one date and it didn't come through was May 1st last year.

What type of federal funding did you two get?

No I was just saying that we were supposed to hear back May 1st 2013 and now I'll be surprised now if we hear back before May 1 2014 since there is not even a hint of a timeline.

I feel like it's more likely we hear back more than a year after they were supposed to tell us than hearing back before May 1st, which is insane, the thought of them canceling it is just too much to bare.

The sequester is done, a budget passed, can anyone think now what is the hold up?

Who'd you hear that from that there were 160 students in the internal review process?

Has anyone changed their project from what they wrote their grant on? Do you think that this will kill a chance of an award?

Yeah I have been thinking about the same thing, but how EPA has always awarded it before is that they have a certain fraction pass the external review which I think is all of us left, and then depending on how much money they have they award as many as they can. I would think they'd still have at least a few extra people they do not plan to give the award to as alternates in case someone they do offer the award to is unable to accept it. I get the sense though that there are still a lot of us left, like more than 80, but maybe that is just being pessimistic.

A new budget is likely going to be approved soon for 2 years, and there will be more spending for federal programs for the next two years, I wonder if it will be enough for the fellowship to be offered? I broke down and emailed Brandon again, and got a good old: "There still has been no decisions on awards. Brandon" What is going on!

Yeah I am hoping in the next few months they'd let us know, from my correspondence w/ Bronda it sounds like they were making progress on at least awarding an honorary fellowship before the government shutdown, but that they were directing their efforts from that to trying to still get money. I would guess the shutdown would slow things by at least a month, and they were probably at least a few weeks away from doing anything then, so I see this taking a while still to hear anything. I would suggest asking Bronda too, she is more responsive, I'd email her but I think she has heard enough from me. Please let us know if you hear anything!
