  1. Yeah I read this letter http://op.bna.com/env.nsf/id/fwhe-94wsd3/$File/EPALetter.pdf also and it's interesting how they only mention the fellowships under "The Sustinainable and Healthy Communities" section, but the fellowships are mentioned anywhere else. They say 45 fellowships will be reduced, I think between both the STAR and GRO (I think the under graduate research), I wonder how many are awarded to GRO vs. STAR, but that is a pretty significant chunk for just one section, as they only award about 80 fellowships a year
  2. Buzzkill
  3. You could submit after December 10th? Also how did you get in contact w/ the EPA?
  4. yeah this isn't surprising I guess, they are pretty unorganized as you can see from the application process, i didn't see a number but i think if you sent an email you covered your bases
  5. Has anyone heard anything yet (got an email from recipe.application@epa.gov) or heard something back after you emailed them that you hadn't recieved an email from that address? I emailed them on Monday as their website said to do, but haven't heard anything.
  6. Yeah I still haven't received an email from recipe.application@epa.gov. Although I did recieve several from noreploy@grants.gov right after I submitted it (4 to be exact). Last year I got the email from the epa.gov address much sooner so I am not sure what is going on? Anyone get something different than us?
  7. Is this happening this year? They still haven't posted a call for applicatoins.
  8. I doubt they are trying to make people feel good, I am sure they have no problem saying you weren't selected. I bet it's something you could put on your resume too, like an NSF honorable mention
  9. Just got the reject email saying I am a finalist and that it is an honor... blah, blah, blah. they didn't say anything about comments, do they have those?
  10. So the DOE isn't going to reject anyone until everyone who has a recieved an offer formally accepts or rejects it? It seems obsurd they don't just rejected everyone except for a handful of people that might be alternates.
  11. Did anyone just get one score. All I got was a very good?
  12. Did they get a call or email?
  13. I got the reject today. For E3 water quality in california. Good luck everyone else.
  14. Has anyone not from the East coast received a letter?
  15. What did you apply under?
  16. Also does anyone have an idea if they give out more awards to highly applied to areas, eg. Climate change
  17. So they are reducing the amount of the awards since 2010, why?
  18. If you count on this webpage for the 2010 winners, I think it was like 140 or so, someone should double check that. http://www.epa.gov/ncer/fellow/recipients/star_fellow10.html I thought I read somewhere else too, it was a 2006 document maybe, that they have had like 1,600 applicants.
  19. When do you think this is coming out, end of April? Getting rejected by NSF is the begining of obsessing over this.
  20. 2 HM... sucks
  21. Do you all think this is for real, it seems to me pretty surprising that everyone is waiting this out, when they haven't mentioned yet about this be grfp related.
  22. This makes me think its happening tonight. Any dissenters have good reasons to believe otherwise?
  23. Sorry if this has been discussed on the previous threads but I was curious about: 1. How much do you guys think not having publications (in Environmental Engineering) hurts an nsfgrfp app? 2. How much does "publishing" in conference proceedings make up for i
