  1. I'm also very confused about Georgetown. I emailed the department yesterday asking about the remaining decisions, but haven't heard back from them yet--will update here if I do though.
  2. I'm doing the same.. I wonder if the status shows up in the messages section? There's still nothing in mine. I'm assuming a rejection anyway, but it would be nice to confirm so I can move on.
  3. I'm also curious about this; I haven't been able to find anywhere to check the decision status online..
  4. This was me; I emailed DGS and this is the response they sent to me. Sorry for the confusion!
  5. I also use Outlook and I've been doing this all week! It's been driving my S.O. crazy.
  6. My portal also said the same thing, glad I'm not to only one! I couldn't figure out what they could be missing since it looked like all of the pieces were in. Echoing your sentiments, I'm not particularly optimistic about my chances there, but it would have been a huge bummer if they didn't even look at my application...
  7. Congrats that's awesome!!! quick question-has your online status on wolverine access been updated as well?
  8. That's what I'm going to go with; will keep my fingers crossed for all who are still waiting to hear.
  9. I heard back from UCLA, this was their entire response (I asked if all of the acceptances had been sent out): "Work in progress." Not sure what to make of that..
  10. I almost hope I find out this week so that I can recover over the weekend and start the next week on a positive note.. three rejections in a row has not made for a great time.
  11. Any predictions on who will release decisions today or tomorrow? I'm going to guess MIT and Michigan. Maybe UCSD as well.
  12. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from the grad advisor I emailed UCLA yet. I'm not totally confident that the contact information on their website is up to date, so that might be why... :/
  13. For anyone still wondering about Duke, I emailed the Graduate Coordinator there and this is her out of office message: "If you are inquiring about the status of your PhD application, the admissions committee members have made their decisions. Those applicants offered admission have been notified. MA applications are currently under review." Edit: I also reached out to UCLA, will update if I get a response.
  14. I'm holding out hope for news from UCLA; still ~1 hr left in the workday for the West Coast...
  15. You're welcome And congrats to the Chicago and Rutgers admits!
  16. Disclaimer: this is what I did for my only interview thus far (OSU), so your mileage may vary. First, do you know who you're interviewing with? And was there any guidance provided when they initially contacted you? My interview was with my POI who was very casual about the whole thing. In their outreach email they mentioned wanting to chat about my background and about the program in general. I know that other OSU interviews were more intense than this and covered applicants' research interests and background in much more detail than mine did. This is the process that I followed to prepare: -Re-read my SOP and made a note of the things that I wanted to highlight over the phone that may not have been covered in enough detail in my application. -Researched (ahem, internet stalked) my interviewer. I read their 3 most recent publications and took a few notes on each. I skimmed 2 of their older pubs to get a sense of how their interests have changed over time. -Practiced an "elevator pitch" for why I would be a good fit with the department (what drew me to the department in the first place, what my value-add would be in terms of my prior work/educational experience, how my research interests meshed with department etc.). I already had a clear idea of my research question(s) and potential methodologies so I didn't prep those, but it certainly couldn't hurt to do so. -Prepared a few questions about timeline, departmental procedures, atmosphere at the university, etc. My interviewer talked about funding in a lot more detail than I expected, so I asked a lot of followup questions. The main other thing that I asked was for them to talk about what they thought were grad students' most favorite and least favorite aspects of the program. These are very similar to the types of questions I ask potential employers during a job interview. -Got a good night of sleep the night before the interview (mine was quite early since they were out of the country at the time). My interviewer didn't ask me where else I'd applied, but did ask in a roundabout way whether I could picture myself in Columbus rather than a larger city (if you get a variant of this question, you should probably say yes and sound like you mean it, haha ). I have family in Columbus and I already know/like the city so that was a non-issue for me. Remember, as much as they are interviewing you, in many ways you are also interviewing them. I hope this helps, good luck!!
  17. Anyone else checking their email obsessively for UCLA? Not me of course...
  18. Yep, I looked back through old posts from 2013 and 2012 and it looks like they released results between 3:30pm - 7pm EST. Long day ahead...
  19. ....I don't know why that didn't occur to me before. Thanks for killing my productivity for the next 30mins or so IRToni
  20. I wish the results page had more specific time stamps.. It's only 7am on the west coast so I will be on pins and needles all day waiting to see if UCLA releases it's results.
  21. My 2 cents on your questions: -location is really important to me. I know that my productivity can vary dramatically depending on my overall well-being and satisfaction with where I am, so when I picked programs I almost exclusively chose places (given the fit was right) where I would be happy to finish out my 20s. When it comes to choosing a program after all decisions are in, although location will not be the deciding factor (fit, rank, and placement will be more important), it will definitely be a major consideration. -I did my undergrad in political science and natural science, but have a masters degree in a different field and have worked in a variety of industries. I don't really consider myself a "political scientist" at the moment, but that's what I aspire to be. -I didn't apply anywhere abroad, but wouldn't be opposed to working abroad at some point.
  22. On a light note, this picture came up on my Facebook feed today, seems about right to me... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BfLn4ZuCMAAaQz3.jpg:large
