  1. Got that e-mail as well. Very curious. I'm taking the oddly worded part about needing more time to ask for more time, specifically citing that they have not confirmed funding; also, I'm still making another visit. I was one of the ones who was there for the visit day on Friday and there was no talk then of having to decide by the 23rd or anything of that sort, though they did say they would probably hear about fellowships today or tomorrow and making departmental funding decisions after that. For what it's worth, they have to give us until April 15th per the guidelines the university signed with the CGS (http://www.cgsnet.org/ckfinder/userfiles/files/CGS_Resolution.pdf). I'm a little alarmed by this too and don't know yet if we'd actually lose our spot by not responding this week, but my gut feeling is that we'll be fine. I guess we'll see.
  2. Aw shucks. Did anyone get rejected? Just silence on my end. I figure they've only sent out acceptances, but it's worth asking.
  3. Thanks kbirch. I'm interested in urban and global things and my POI is Dr. Neal.
  4. Congrats kbirch! Do you know if they've sent out all their acceptances? Makes sense that they would have, but it's worth asking, I reckon. This is one of the last places I haven't heard a thing from.
  5. I'm one of the Temple acceptances. I don't know if they've sent out the full range of acceptances, though they have set up a visit day on March 16th. I'd say it's a decent sign if only fellowship people have posted on here; perhaps they have not sent out all of the acceptances out yet. E-mail came in the night, like 11 eastern time. Night owls, they must be.
  6. The interviews are over now and they went well; it's a pretty friendly department to get along with. I saw that you said you were getting an interview on another thread--are you doing it over skype or something? There were 17 people there, I believe, and I know they are looking to add about fifteen people in the next two years, so it seems likely that they're admitting 10 to 12, but anybody's guess is as good as mine as to the exact estimates.
  7. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything there seemed pretty impressive. I'll be curious to see when they get back to us...if anybody hears be sure to post!
  8. I like Rice. It has question marks, of course, from being a new program and all, but I still really like Rice. Energy within the department seems real high and the small grad program idea is a good thing too. Funding, is, uh, really, really good, as I'm sure you folks noticed. Lot of upside here and, though it may or may not (who knows??) rank a little lower in my head than a few more established top twenty programs I'm in the running for, I'd still give it a real hard thought. I'd be curious to know what others think about where it might fall too; it has been something I've definitely been thinking about.
  9. I've got an interview there this week. I'm not sure how many people have been invited to interview. Should be interesting.
  10. I have an interview there as well. Not sure what to think about it. Paying for the travel seems like a decent sign, but that only goes so far and applying/hearing back has been too hectic to make me feel too good about anything. I know they shoot for a really small cohort (4-6), so I'm really curious to see how many people they invited. If it's ten folks, I'll be pleased. But if it's beyond 15, I may or may not freak out briefly. I took some small solace in the fact that nobody posted in the results section that they got an interview--though apparently two of us have been lurking around here anyway and not posting results haha. You--or anybody else--have any idea how many people are supposed to be interviewing? I'm really looking forward to heading down there. This may very well be a top school for me.
