  1. I'm fine with it.. however I hate that facebook displays info incorrectly. For instance I still have my current school which I am finishing this semester and yet for the last two years it has said "Studied" at and now it says "Studies" at new university ... even though I put in a future date... Facebook makes me angry sometimes.
  2. Just wanted to post the facebook group, Boston University GRS International Relations 2014.
  3. My view on the internship thing... I've already had an internship at the State Department and that was while attending school in Georgia... Boston only increases chances. You don't HAVE to be in D.C. or New York to get the internships, it just makes things a lot easier/cheaper. I emailed the Grad School coordinator and he seemed nice via email but who knows in person. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic that I am making the right choice We really do need to start a facebook group!
  4. I also, perhaps only to keep my self sane, subscribe to the thought that "it is only money!"
  5. I totally know how you feel and let me just saying I'm looking about double that.
  6. Thank you for your kinds words! On the off chance the grantee turns it down I would imagine BU would be willing to work with me... but who knows haha. Speaking as someone who's B.A. is in History and who has lived in Siena for a month, I think your project sounds totally awesome. Looking forward to spending some time at Teatro Chigi?
  7. Well, about ten minutes after I got that e-mail I sent my official acceptance to Boston University haha, I can't deal with anymore what ifs. The Casten Family grant was a specific (1 award) to complete a Masters of Food Communication (essentially advertising the Slow Food Movement) at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra, Italy. I'm happy that I was an alternate and congrats to you as well. It is reassuring to think of the amount of applications for Italy each year and to know we made it this far is pretty special. I'd be a little upset if two months from now I find out the other person turned it down but.. va be va be. What do you want to research again, I think you told us but I can't remember?
  8. I just got my notice as well. Italy, Casten Family Foundation Grant, Alternate, via e-email.
  9. Grazie mille, ma che schifo!
  10. Well I applied last minute so I got my application in to BU and University of Georgia (I will not go there it was a safety school). My real other option is the Fulbright. I'm waiting on a full grant to Italy to get a masters in food communication (it sounds totally absurd but actually looks like an amazing program that is all about slow food and how to promote it, and ... it would be free ). What about you? Edit: By the way, I would assume that it is a good thing you two haven't heard yet. You have probably made it further in the decision process than myself.
  11. I got mine via email (a duplicate of what is to come via post)
  12. The official letters went out via email today. I did not get offered an assistantship
  13. It was a week ago today via email. They said that an official letter would be coming "soon" (not so soon) in the mail.
  14. Its killing me that I haven't gotten the funding letter in the mail yet. $40,000 a year is just ... a terrifying number. IR at Boston is by no means the best program (John Hopkins, Georgetown, etc) however my friends in the State Dept tell me that BU has an amazing program that is really overlooked. The faculty is awesome and the city is amazing (is it D.C. or NY no) . If I get funding it's a no brainer I'm going. If I don't get funding it will be a tough choice but I think I am going to take on the debt. In that case please note that I am openly seeking roomates for the fall haha.
  15. Hi, I have been accepted as well and like you am still deciding. I am still in the running for a Fulbright (M.A. in Food Communication... i.e. practically useless for what I want to do [foreign service]) but really want to accept BU. Boston is my favorite city in America and this program looks perfect as I am getting my B.A. in History and they seem to be really focused on the interdisciplinary side of things. I'm still waiting on the funding letter to come in the mail... that will significantly help my decision along. HOUSING is a terrifying prospect haha.
  16. Has anyone else been accepted to this program / considering accepting?
  17. I just got word that I was accepted to BU's Masters of International Affairs... now I don't know what to think! I think I may be in for some tough decisions.
  18. The stress is getting to me. I've been up since 3!
  19. We could all hear something today... right? haha
  20. Has anyone had an interview for Italy?
