It is my understanding that the medical forms are due 1 month from the day we receive the packet in the mail with country specific information. We have been discussing some of this on our Facebook group. If you aren't already in the Facebook group, here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/410265979000617/

I think we're all still waiting for the letter with details. Most Germany ETAs seem to have left the forum or are posting less. We have a Facebook group now though: https://www.facebook.com/groups/410265979000617/

I heard that we find out information regarding how to make the arrangements through STA and we are reimbursed for it. It has to be an American provider (Delta, American, etc) because of some Act, the name of which I do not remember. I think most Germany ETAs have left the forum, instead choosing to chat on our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/410265979000617/

I cannot create a group with just myself...so if you message me on here I can add you on Facebook, then we can start a group.
-
I think since there are so many of us, someone should start a Facebook group for Germany ETA 2012-2013. Or maybe there's one out there that I just haven't found?

Accepted for an ETA in Germany! The E-mail came at 8:31am with the subject Fulbright Sttus (PR) from Theresa Granza. And yes, the subject of the E-mail was spelled Sttus. Congratulations to everyone else heading to Germany in September! I heard we don't find out out placement until May, but maybe that will happen sooner this year too. I'm not worried about that at all though.

Yay another day of waiting... FSB/IIE must know how much we love having anxiety attacks each time we check our E-mail. Maybe tomorrow's the day for the rest of Germany ETAs.
-
I would think they have all their decisions made by now. It would not be fair to just trim the list as they go and do it on a rolling basis. Maybe they are waiting for final budget approval to determine the exact number of acceptances and some more might have to become alternates. Or maybe they are still sending Germany acceptances by mail only? Or they forgot to press "send"? Or they just want to torture us? They like seeing us in agony and feeling sick as we obsessively refresh our E-mails? Just throwing some ideas out there I honestly cannot do anything without thinking about Fulbright. I constantly wonder if the E-mail will be there the next time I log into my E-mail or press refresh. Update: nose goes, *not calling* FSB/IIE, Sagen Sie uns bescheid...bitte!

My friend received a Mexico ETA acceptance last night.
-
Sehr geehrte IIE/FSB, Wir brauchen eine Antwort! Vielen Dank. Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Die ungeduldigen Finalisten
-
The waiting continues...hopefully today's the day for the rest of Germany ETA notifications
-
I also think it would be quite odd. In that alternate E-mail it says "You can assume that the principal candidates for your country are being notified simultaneously with this notice to you." So I am assuming we may still find out today. I didn't receive my finalist E-mail until 7:40pm, but some of my friends heard around noon. This will continue to drive me insane until I find out.
-
In the status update E-mail letting us know we are finalists: "If you are selected for an award, you will receive notification of your status from the FSB. If you are named an alternate or are not selected, you will be notified by IIE."
-
Well someone on here already said they're an alternate. I think it just has to do with the fact that acceptance notifications come from FSB, not the IIE. So it's up to them when they sent the notification. But it is frustrating that the first notifications went out 4 hours ago...
-
Acceptance notifications come from the FSB, right? The others come from the IIE? Maybe that's the reason?
-
I hope they send all the Germany ETA notifications on the same day...maybe they're out to lunch?

I have yet to have a Fulbright dream. Only 1 dream about graduation where they completely messed up my degree which made it invalid (weird, right?). I better not have jinxed myself about the Fulbright dream though and have one tonight. I also tend to check my E-mail on my phone when I wake up and can't quite comprehend what's there, so maybe the E-mail will be there in the morning and it'll feel like a dream.
-
All of my family, friends, and professors keep asking if I've heard anything yet. It's making me even more impatient. Hopefully German ETA E-mails go out tomorrow morning!
-
My heart is racing now that one Germany ETA found out about 2 hours ago and another person's friend found out...and I haven't heard anything. I think all us Germany ETA finalists are dying now! Congrats zkrcorn! How did you find out? Please tell us more!
-
I found out today that when someone receives a Fulbright at my school they get lawn signs in our school colors that say: Congratulations _(full name)_. Fulbright Scholar to _(country)_. They put them all around campus. I want signs with my name on them next week!
-
My friend was awarded a Fulbright ETA to Nepal today. So there are some notifications that went out this week.
-
I considered that. And maybe so we stop worrying and then it'll just happen without expecting it.
-
Germany ETA applicants: Last Friday I E-mailed Cara Doble. She was out of the office, but the automatic reply said to E-mail Theresa Granza, so I did. I finally received a response from Theresa today and this is what she said: "We are still waiting to hear from Germany." I guess we have quite a while to wait still...maybe the first week of April?

Ich hoffe, dass heute der Tag ist! Vielleicht werden die Fulbright-Götter glücklich sein, weil dieser auf Deutsch ist. haha
