  1. Yes, they have changed the process this year. Interviews then offers to a subset! Best of luck!
  2. I knew you would, from the first post.
  3. As with many departments, even if you don't hear anything by the deadline, you probably will hear something on or immediately following. Given the backlog of people accepting right until the deadline, departments shift around their spots and move people off the waitlist. I'm almost positive Pitt did this last year (after I declined my offer). It was my experience that some programs even pulled people off the "rejection" list and offered them admission with full funding. The short of it is, although the "official" deadline is the 15th, there are many unofficial things that get done to ensure that a program's cohort size will be sufficient. Good luck!!!
  4. Glad to hear. Hopefully your talks with Berk folk and people like Flacks were fruitful.
  5. So, I found out who it was... yes, was. That person has declined the offer from UMass. Groovy, if you don't know already, I'll let you in!
  6. The old scores can be found using web archives. The link takes a while to load, though. http://web.archive.org/web/20120223230755/http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-humanities-schools/sociology-rankings
  7. I was just going to post this, sir! Thanks!
  8. They've been doing poorly with funding, TTD and placements, relative to other programs (especially among UCs).

  10. Oh no... I guess I mistakenly read the post... None are going from Irvine to UMass. I was just referring to UMass' recent Irvine hires (about 3 in the last 3 years).
  11. Hmm... I'm wondering about the lag time between eval and report. Any idea? I'd hope that the evaluators would want to get the report out sooner rather than [three years] later.
  12. I get the sense that there's some high hopes for both Irvine and ND upward trends this round. I can't be upset and I agree! Aside from those, my speculations are: Berkeley drops 1 or 2. UNC drops CUNY drops Cornell rises Arizona drops 1 or 2 Minnesota drops UC Davis drops UC San Diego drops UMass rises Overall, the top 15 (~20) will look similar.
